Recommendations for great replacement speakers
I'm actually looking for spreaker replacements for a Tech. I want something alot better than stock and fits perfectly without any fab work. Stock amp and sub will be used and I'd like to use 1 brand for all the speakers if possible but not a huge deal if they are different brands.
For right now I just want to replace the front door and the back door speakers.

The speaker / amp combo for the tech is proprietary. It's way harder to upgrade it than on a non-tech.

Perhaps there is something wrong with your system. What are your major complaints about the sound?
Back when I was selling audio, management loved the guys who would come in saying "I want new speakers and I have $xyz to spend" because they walked out of the store with their wallet that much lighter (and often spend far more than they wanted to).
I loved the guys that came in saying "you know, there's something about my system that doesn't just sound right" and oftentimes they walked out happy after having been shown how to set the EQ or how to modify their speaker placement - without having spent a dime.
thanks for your input guys, my front speaker rattles sometimes also, i feel like 40 isn't loud enough in some circumstances.
how would i set the EQ besides the way I usually do it, which is the audio setting button and scroll through those settings.

Go to the Acura dealer and borrow one of the DVDs they use to show off the ELS system. If the speaker rattles, heaves or otherwise sounds bad then there is something wrong with the system.
Depends on the source. Nothing is "recorded on USB" so anything on your USB drive was originally recorded on another medium and transferred multiple times before it ended up on the USB.
With USB drives especially, people tend to compress music in order to squeeze more on.
The only thing that one can say for sure is that a hard connection has the capability of providing higher quality than a BT connection.

Some people really expect a million dollar car out of that 33k they paid for a tech... Go sit in a crappy car, listen to the radio, see how good the bass gets, and then afterwards sit in your car and turn it up.
You aren't listening... you have a tech so it's Much MUCH more complicated than that. The speakers and amp are paired. you need to basically replace it all.
You CAN do that, but start saving up... It's not gonna be cheap.
For speakers, I replaced fronts with Alpine Type R / rears with Polk DB651 in my car, also dynamat in the doors helped a ton.

For music.. I put all my FLAC on my USB and play through the car.
I just read this thread from the top...
Volume set to 40?! I'm already partially deaf (as many people have told me from my repeated "huh?"s and "what?"s), but WTF 40 I think is WAY too loud.

What I imagine 40 would be like in my TSX. Free A/C!

I thought one could replace the speakers in the tech but they may not sound much better given that the ELS amp screws with the signal going to the individual speakers.
The headunit outputs a constant signal. This means one can't just swap out the ELS amp, add new speakers, and call it a day. You will lose the ability to control the volume, auto mute so the nav can talk, etc.
