Rear Window Tint

Hey guys I am about to schedule a tint appointment. I have a question regarding the rear glass.

For those who have tint, did your installers cut out for the third brake light or were they able to tint the entire glass with no cut out?

I have the rear spoiler so my third brake light is no utilized. I would rather have the installer do the entire rear glass if possible.

Thanks!

They will cut to fit the glass. Anything attached to the window will be cut around. I don't understand the reference to third brake light. FYI, factory tint is 88% (if you're trying to stay legal). Insist on a tinter that has a meter.

He's asking if they cut around the third brake light or if they get the tint on the entire glass.

For my car they covered the entire glass.

You ask them to. My tint guys didn't do it because the car looks cleaner without it cut. IMO . But ask them to cut it if you want they will do it.

same here --- I specifically asked them to do the entire glass....looks dumb (IMO) when they go around the 3rd brake light....esp on a light colored interior.

Hmm....I'm curious as to how they can smooth out the area in front of the third brake light. The more I look at my car, I can't see them fitting a tool between the glass and lamp housing hump.....

I guess I will ask them once I call for an appointment. Thanks guys.

When I got mine installed the first time they cut around the brake light. I went back to get it redone and they said I had to take out the rear shelf+light for them to do it correctly. So I removed the shelf myself and got it redone.

That's weird? they didn't even say anything to me about that. They just put the tint on and squeezed out the bubbles using something they had.

they have a tool that they can use to slip in between the glass and the light. it's a thin spatula like tool. a pic of it has been posted before. and it looks better with the entire glass done. and no, the police won't hassle you for having the third brake light tinted. they will if your tints are below legal limit.
