Rear bumper replacement with Aero Sport Bumper

I've had my 2009 TSX for 2 years now and the rear bumper has recevied a couple of bumps and bruises... so evaluating the cost of repair/repaint vs. getting a new one, I opted for new.

Ordered the Aero Sport Rear bumper from DCH Acura of Temecula's online eBay store (great price at $475 + $70 shipping). Good guys to deal with!

So the box arrived (see pic below) and the task is now at hand. Should be a fun project for today. Will keep you posted of results.

Interesting shipping crate to say the least!

can u post/pm me a link to their ebay store?

Post pics when you are done. I have the aero rear bumper installed also after the rear bumper was damaged by a flower cart vendor.

i want the rear bumper :( but its already been like 2 years, so the paint on the bumper is gonna stand out against the car hhaa

Success and a few pictures

The installation was really straight forward. I actually took some video of the installation that I will process and post later... might be a good DIY video for the 2009 - 2010 TSX rear bumper.

In meantime, a few pics (old bumper first and new one)

looks amazing.

Nice job gwickes.

I have an 09 PWP TSX and I had the front and rear sport bumpers installed by Weir Canyon Acura (Southern California) several months ago. I didn't get the side skirts because they have a "tacked on" look, in my opinion. I have to say that I'm very happy with the sport bumpers - they really give the car an aggressive look and they flow with the lines of the vehicle very well.

Endika, I also had to replace my rear bumper and bought them from Acura of Temecula on Ebay as well. Here is their link:

Good luck!

Nice job gwickes! Your car looks much better with the new bumper :)

Looks great. Maybe its just the lighting but the car looks so clean!

^+1

Grigio is much easier to keep clean than Crystal Black:tongue:

ressling 06-05-2011 12:21 AM

Personally, I love both bumpers, but I really like how the reflectors on the sport bumper are slightly raised and shifted to the left. Nice grab and great sport bumper pickup via ebay; it's always great to get a deal online. I got my OEM floor mats on ebay, below retail.

Seeing pics makes me want to mod my car, but I can't justify the expense until I start paying more of my car off. :yuck:

Keep up the good work. Car looks really clean!

live2hit01 06-05-2011 06:52 AM

That looks really really good. Thanks for posting before and after shots. Can't wait for the video.

Thanks for all the nice comments. Like others have said I love the Grigio color and the new bumper seemed to match perfectly.

jgs1564 I agree with you on the sides. Plus, I looked at the installation for the sides and it looks real finicky, so they’re not in the future for a mod

Thanks hcp! In fact, your post https://acurazine.com/forums/show...php?p=12931691 helped me make the decision to get the bumper and go with DCH of Temecula. Next step will be to order the front and install it… but that will be sometime in the future.

Ressling: I sure wish Acura would put the sports bumper on the TSX as original equipment. It’s hard to justify the aftermarket price to change out the existing and put on the aero sports bumpers... but once on, the look improves a bunch! (IMHO)

Working on putting a bunch of the video clips together… hope to have it posted today.

ed_423 06-05-2011 04:04 PM

great DIY.

ttk5 06-05-2011 05:59 PM

This is definitely going to be the DIY people reference when installing the rear bumper.

bartek7pl 06-05-2011 06:49 PM

It makes me buy one too! Now I hope you'll buy front bumper and do video of that :) Good job!

5thTo2nd 06-05-2011 08:41 PM

That's an awesome DIY video! I wish I'd seen that before doing mine--I had the same difficulty with that last clip where the tail light crease is. It's really tight in that area and wiggling it doesn't really help much. Using a flat head would have made the job a lot easier.

Mr. NC 06-05-2011 09:39 PM

Sick and informative DIY

09TSXTech 06-06-2011 01:31 AM
