questions on buying a Salvage 2012 TSX

Hello guys Im new here

I've been looking for a TSX for a while and found a dealer selling a 2012 TSX but its has a salvage title ... now I've never owned a salvage car before but the guys in the dealer seem like they know what they are doing when repairing this cars they even gave me pictures of the car before been fixed by them ... the car only has about 45k miles ... ill leave the before and after pictures of the car here and I would like to hear what you guys think of it and hopefully ill come to a decision if I should buy it or not .... Also they are asking $10,999 for it but they said they can work with me on the price ...https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...e401722b1d.jpg

Wtf 11 grand for a fucked up salvaged titled car? GTFO!! Pass this shit up!!

justnspace 04-25-2018 05:15 AM

You can get a non salvaged for 11k...

SharkTrooper 04-25-2018 05:30 AM

Yeah the car is fixed tho this are the pictures of it before been fixed I dont know why it dosent show the other pictureshttps://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...f43c7e30e3.jpg

I know it's been fixed...however; you can grab a non-wrecked car for $11k.

the salvaged titled car in question in no way shape or form is a deal. you're paying the same amount of money as a non-wrecked one...
IF the salvaged titled car was $3-5k cheaper than a regular non-wrecked car, I'd CONSIDER the salvaged titled. but alas, there is no deal to be had here.

SharkTrooper 04-25-2018 06:53 AM

I understand I just cant seem to find a TSX tech pack. With less than 80k miles for under 11k ive seen a few at like 10k-14k with around 100k miles or more

justnspace 04-25-2018 06:59 AM

so you would rather buy a fucked up salvaged titled car than a car with 100k miles...?

I understand it was fixed. I crashed my car and had it fixed. it's as good as new.
just why would you buy a salvaged title when there are non-wrecked cars that are either cheaper or the same price as the salvaged titled?
the logic doesnt make sense

SharkTrooper 04-25-2018 07:31 AM

I guess thats why I asked here in the forums I just dint know it was that bad of a deal ... im not to savy on this kind of things... for me that was an alright car as long a its was running good and fixed right but I guess you saved me a future headache I guess ill keep looking around

justnspace 04-25-2018 07:45 AM

you would also have to look at your insurance...some states dont or wont cover or have less coverage for salvaged titled cars.

at $11k, i'd assume you would have to finance...?
a bank WILL require full coverage on the vehicle...because ya know they would want their money back incase something were to happen.
so, right off the bat...it's not a good deal.

unless the car was like $3-5k and you could pay in cash...I'd entertain the idea...but financing an $11k car with a salvaged title is not a deal.

Price is high, but here is my take on salvage titles. Depends on the wreck. On a Lotus Elise the clamshell is so expensive that insurance companies just write it off. It's just cosmetic so you can decide how pretty you want your car to be. On the other hand any car with frame damage can be a problem. Properly repairing a frame and getting aligned is very difficult. Your car seems like it's inbetween. If it drives well and you trust the shop then it's worth the gamble. Just not at that price.

Alright I see ... and yes I would be buying cash I dont wanna finance... also the dealer was willing to go down in price to 9500 on it but I just declined after hearing what you guys had to say dont wanna lose money ...

I would rather buy something like this one:
https://www.cambridgehonda.com/used/...6777131810.htm
I am sure they will gladly sell it for $13.5-14K. I would put down $10K and finance the rest for 5 years and $100 per month.

SharkTrooper 04-26-2018 07:49 AM

Yea but i think im just gonna end up buying a accord or something like it

That car had some serious damage. Could it be repaired, (AS GOOD AS NEW) NEVER-NEVER-NEVER. Even if I bought that car through an insurance auction, and repaired it myself, I wouldn't want to own it!

You can do better. I just bought a 2009 Acura TSX 6MT 78.000 miles Tech Package for $9,000 (One owner). Be patience and keep looking.

Panel gaps are off and the headlights are pointing in different directions.

For some reason, body shops can NEVER get headlight alignment right.

You can't get auto loan on salvage cars at least not here in Cali banks.
