Picked up my 2011 TSX. Strong smell from brakes!
I picked up my 2011 TSX, Tech, I4, Graphite on Monday. So far I'm very happy with my decision!
The odometer had 3 miles on it when I picked it up. There has been a strong smell emanating from the car after driving it for a few miles, which I assume is the brake pads wearing in. However, I now have 230 miles on it and the smell is still fairly strong.
Is this normal? I called the dealer and the service guy said that I'm probably riding the brakes too hard, but I'm not. I've actually been very conscious about them and trying to engine brake when possible.

Could you describe the smell in greater detail? Could just be the fresh rubber from the tires still (they are near the brakes after all).
I remember my TSX smelling for a bit when I bought it (had 3 miles on the odometer when purchased), but I forget how long.

It is perfectly normal to smell some odd fumes immediately after buying your car. Your car has not been broken in yet or really even driven for that matter, so all those oils, coatings, sealants, etc that are on your engine and other components are just burning off as things get hot. The smell should go away after a week or 2.

its highly possible that someone ran up to your wheels and farted on them when you last stopped the car.
I do this often, and it greatly confuses new car owners. I run and then watch from a distance and laugh when i see them wondering why their brakes smell

i was devastated during taco bells beef controversy. thats like half of my diet right there in jeopardy.
regardless, neither of you should be smelling anything other than my farts, it may be a potential issue, just keep your noses aware of any odd smells and note the times till more 2011 users get on board and share their sentiments

After 2.5 years my '09 will still generate smells after spirited driving. I'm guessing it's the tranny fluid.

It looks like some of you bought your TSXs recently, could you share the invoice price you received on your 2011 TSX?
I'm currently in the haggling battles and want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off.
Is $27,170 + tax and invoice a good price?

I know others have done better than $100 under invoice, but in my region the next closest dealer is 180 miles away, so we don't have as much direct competition.
