Painting over chrome

Hey,

So I had my grill colour matched to my car over a year ago, and just recently the paint started to crack. I brought it back to the shop that painted it and he is saying that the chrome is not accepting the paint and he will repaint it but can no longer guarantee the paint will not crack. Is there anyway to get rid of the chrome? I was just about to bring my door handles in to get painted and now I am worried it will crack too.

My handles are slmost 2 years no issue.

Its been a while but the beak part IIRC the beak is plastic under the chrome. Do like op said....sand the chrome off.

some people have luck using self etching primer on the chrome

I stripped the chrome off of the handles by hand using a razor blade.
painfull process but you'll be sure you'll never have issues.

Plastic primer after you sand in 5 minute or peel in 2 weeks.

You repeat that like its your mantra. Is that your daily chant "i peel the chrome. I peel the chrome......"
