Opinions: 2009 TSX CPO or New TSX?
My dealer has a TSX certified pre-owned ("CPO") with under 5K miles but its a 2009 model.
I priced it out against a new TSX and the difference before negotiaing is about $5,500. Both models being base models.
Do CPO Acuras have any less negotiating room than new models?
With both models being base (non-tech) is there a significant difference between the 2009 and newst TSX models?

Doesn't sound like a great deal - I purchased my 09 Tech CPO for $21k with 18k miles after some talking. Sticker that came with it said the MSRP was $32k.
I did CPO because I was looking for a cash deal, if I were financing again I'd definitely get new.

A few things to consider:
Why does a nearly 4 year old car only have 5000 miles? What is the service history?
While used cars have a bigger profit margin than new cars, most dealers are less willing to deal with used cars and you, as the consumer, have no way of knowing what the dealer paid for the car.
New cars are different. You can come pretty close to knowing what the dealer is paying for the car and can deal accordingly. Truecar.com can give you that info while you'd have to go to an auction site like Manheim to get a swag at what the dealer paid for the used car.
The '09 had some growing pains like any new model and those got worked out over the years.
I was just offered a new tech sedan (2012) for $29400 so deals can be had on the new cars.

Three Wheelin'
i would try to get some good price on the 2012
in base models there is no difference inside between them except the white stitching with the black interior
tech models have upgraded nav screen

By the way, I bought the extended warranty for my Audi because I just was familiar with Audi at that point
For the Mazda and Acura I skipped because I didn't want to have to pay extra for the off chance I may have to put $1k into electronics on one of them.
I just say go new in your case because for $5k spread out (if you are financing) is really negligible in my opinion for the chance of having a new car.
If you can get them down to maybe a 8-10k difference then you've got a decision on your hands.

Thanks to all for the replies. Any additional are welcome. I tend to buy my cars in cash + trade in of my old vehicle. I typically keep my cars for over 8 years, knock on wood if they are reliable so I'm leaning towards new, but as stated above if I can get in the 8-10K differnece then it is worth some consideration. Most of the dealers near me have really high prices on the CPO TSX's. Its also still early in the year and all the dealers I visited today didn't seem to anxious to move the cars and didn't even take down my info, I had to ask for their card...

For that small a spread, I would definitely go for a 2012. It is strange the car average about 1800 miles a year in 3 years (for a CPO, the original sale date is on the sale sticker).
There are subtle but important improvements that happened in the 2011 MMC. They are detailed here:

Except for color options, I am not sure if there were big changes between 2011 and 2012 models.
Also, 2009 was the first model year for 2nd gen, and there were bugs to work out.

hey ZYX, shoot me a message. im in bergen county, i have a good guy at ramsey acura, i've sent a few people his way, and he always gives the best deals around. i got my 2010 TSX and my 2011 MDX from him, i dunno much about how he is with used cars, but can hopefully help get you a good price on a new car. PS. if you go for a new 2011(if there are any left) you can probably get a good amount less than for a 2012
