Opinion needed: 2013 Special Edition TSX

Hey Fellas,

I am a new member on the forums and I am hoping to get some opinions about my next vehicle purchase. For the past month I've been driving around the dealerships trying to find the perfect car for me and out of all the vehicles I found the TSX the most fun to drive. I am looking at a brand new 2013 tsx special edition. The OTD price for the car is around $31.795. I wanted to know what do you guys think of the price, and since probably majority of you own Acura/TSX, what do you think of the car itself. Is it worth it? Is the tech package really worth the money?

Thanks!

That seems like you are talking about the sticker price. You can probably get it a little cheaper once you start negotiating. As far as the tech package goes, I say it's not worth it. If you've got an iPhone you have everything you need, just plug it in. And you can't get the tech in the SE package anyway.

Thanks 'Exit'! I won't mention which dealer this is from but here is the info I received:

Your out the door price breaks down as follows:
$27,994.00 for the 2013 TSX Special Edition, $895.00 for thedestination
charge, $164.30 for the documentary fee in Illinois,$25.00 for the
state's electronic license plate filing fee,$2,481.46 for the tax and
$196.00 for new plates and registration. This totals $31,755.76 out the door
I also got another quote from a different dealer which was around $300 more. I appreciate any help I can get! If all goes well I should be a TSX owner possibly within a week or so!

I'm also on the lookout for a pre-owned SE. They are hard to come by so it's testing my patience I wish they were more abundant.

Just curious...why buy new? I'm seeing pre-owned 2012's with less than 10K miles listed anywhere from $25K-27K. There are definitely some advantages to buying new, but if you can pick up a one year old, lightly used SE for $4k-$6K less...

I would also definitely drive a slightly used Lexus IS250/350 for comparison, even tho they are changing for 2014, the current tech is superior to the CU2 IMO. 6spd tranny, available AWD, LED DRL, etc

IS backseats were so cramped if you're going to be driving people around.

SE doesn't come with a rear view camera though since it can't have tech. I'd say that's dead useful. I think so far I've read only one person who thought the Tech wasn't worth it. Forgot who it was.

I've owned 2 IS's -- really not much difference in room vs the TSX AND you get RWD

What stak said, IS rear seats are cramped and rear view camera in the tech package is ridiculously helpful, especially when parallel parking. Watch Jack Reacher and see how it can be even more useful lol.

Rear backup camera is great... I seem to use it a whole lot and it's awesome.

Love the SE TSX. It seems a lot bigger in the back than the IS. OP, your price is pretty good I think, but you can probably get them down to $30 flat if you try.

Even being 25-27k with taxes and fees it will come up closer to 26-29k. CPO market is very limited (year, miles, color of the vehicle etc), and also you can't really tell who had the car before you, how they drove it etc.

Initially I was going for a used one; exactly as you described (2012/2013 with less then 10k miles) and if an opportunity came I'd probably go for it, but it's hard to find one. Plus there is always something about being the 'first' owner of the car

As far as other makes/models, I think I'm set on TSX, just need to figure when, where and for how much.

Thanks again everyone!

Buy it!

I just bought a 2013 Special Edition/manual transmission and it the one of the funniest cars I have ever driven. Feels more solid than my 07 A4. Highly recommended. Go with the stick kid. Enjoy whatever you decide on.

price

Forgot to mention I paid $31,500 for mine. Dealer showed me a $30,800 invoice. Said he wasn't making much on the car. They always lie though, they get factory to dealer kickbacks too. I am now a Honda fan, turned from Audi and mostly Volkswagen. I like the darkside!

Awesome! You should have a lot of room to negotiate, especially since there are 11 Acura dealerships in the area! Good luck!

I am leasing my 2013 SE 6spd, had to get it shipped in from out of state, they are hard to find.

We really wanted a 6spd TL 3g but they are even more rare. I figure if we take good care of this car, in 3 years we can keep it, or something better will come out and this car will definitely hold its value

very fun to drive except for that damn delay valve on the clutch

I find the ELS and Rear Camera to be worth having the tech package, then again, I also sprung the extra 5 grand or whatever it was for the V6. My car is cursed (see my other threads) and I had a moment over the weekend where I was ready to cut my losses and get something else, but I just love my car too much. The TSX is so good looking and fun to drive! Mine looks like a special edition from the outside I guess.
