for Accord it is 0-62mph Auto 9.5 second. and 7.8 second with manual. i think these are more realistic.

Those are just conservative numbers. Honda has been very conservative with their performance numbers recently, as we can see from the s2000, accord, and TL-S. And now this is applying to the new TSX too.

Another company that is conservative is BMW, they claimed the 335i would do 0-60mph in 5.5s, when in reality many mags have gotten high 4's.

Of course, getting those numbers require hard launches which we won't do on a daily basis. But then if one wants to see the maximum performance, I think hard launches are required, otherwise, we would be looking at 5-60mph numbers instead.

I'd split the two. If you're willing to dump the clutch (as much as the check valve will let you) AND you have a cold day (testing in the arctic circle) AND you are Mario Andretti, you might get the C&D time. No matter, a 'high 6 low 7" range is good for this segment. Would it be safe to say the auto would be under 8?

If C&D tested it, it might. What did the old auto run?

06 5AT SportShift - 0-60mph - 7.7sesc

the old auto acceleration is 8.7 with full auto. i dont think it will ever go under 8, unless they use A- vtec engine.

btw, i saw a 09 tsx on the road today, it actually looks pretty nice.

i find it amusing that you guys won't buy a car if it runs the 0-60 in 8 seconds, but you WILL if it runs 7.9.

the TSX is not a 0-60 car! it's a decent handling, relatively practical, somewhat sporty sedan. it's not a sports car. it's not an M3 sedan.

do you really think that a couple of ticks on a stopwatch difference on a TSX should matter? do any of you seriously race/autocross this car?

indeed 0-60 is not everything , but it is something. the tsx is decent handing. good for daily driving, with aload of tech. and it would be a killer if it also goes FAST. i serously thought they would use A-tech engine for 2009 tsx a year ago, i was deadly waiting for it.
over all its a very good deal. with a little faster acceleration id be even happier.

Wow 0-60mph in 6.9s, seems like 6.7s doesn't sound too crazy....

from that vtec.net article:

"We found that the easiest way to extract the best acceleration figures was to upshift without lifting, but at the same time we must emphasize that this is NOT a recommended technique for daily driving. This WILL lead to accelerated wear on your transmission and can also increase the probability of catastrophic mis-shifts. We only tried this technique on a couple of our acceleration passes, but according to our results this technique clearly resulted in nearly a 0.5 second improvement in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times."

lol, they didn't let off of the accelerator while shifting. you fellas have fun doing that to shave a half second off your 0-60 launches!

That's called power shifting, I figure most cars will go faster if you do that since the flywheel will pull at the clutch as they engage but since it ruins the car I figured nobody bothered to do it for any reason.
