more oil change questions

yea. i'm still awful at this. i'm thinking of buying my own synthetic oil and filter and then going to a shop to get them to do it for me. is this possible?

if it is, what do you recommend i get? ill prolly buy the mobil1 synthetic version and iunno which air filter to get.

on avg, how much am i expecting to pay for the oil change service?

anyone live in SF, who recommends a great oil change place?

also, PSI for the tires should be 33? for some reason, 2 of my tires were at 42 and the other 2 were at 37. i dropped them down to 33 2 days ago after 2 months of driving it at that PSI rate.

thanks in advance.

yes you can bring your own oil for the mechanic to use when changing oil. you can also bring your own filter. which filter to get? i used K&N on my last car.

i've never paid for an oil change in my life, but i would expect it would be $10-15 if you're bringing your own oil.

COLD TIRE PRESSURE is 33psi. meaning your tire pressure in the morning before it's driven should be at 33psi. if you're looking at it mid-day, after driving around on it, it will be higher due to heat and that is normal.

There are arguemnts all over the internet about synthetic vs regular oil. Here is my experience. Had a 93 accord. Did regular oil changes every 4,000-5,000 miles, drove that car for 364,000 miles. So given the accord made it that far with no engine issues on regular oil I'm not throwing away money on synthetic when regular oil does just as good a job. just my .02. The only reason I got rid of the 93 was the extensive rust and it was just time.

but that is 1/2 a test, maybe you would have gotten 664,000 on synthetic. All you have proven is that regular oil works and cars have proved that for 100 years already.

Adversary, I take it back, if you are indeed planning on keeping your car for more than 364,000 miles perhaps the extra expense might be worth it.
