Someone get on this, I really want to see the Acura badging of this. After seeing born2blaze modulo sports grille in CBP, I really like the style of it.

Heh, if that is the main concern you have, you might not ever find out.

Serious, you wanna help with it I am certainly going to take that into consideration. But you might be a bit far away.

I believe he's using this grill as a template to manufacture the one with the Acura Logo Fitting

That's what I got out of it, too. It's R&D...Ripoff & Duplicate.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, particularly if that OE plastic...thing is $1000.00

Lol, thanks for putting that so delicately. I am going to change it just a tad to make it more original, but the really costly part of the R&D is getting the mounting shape!

Someone was buggin' about the A emblem on the 'club so I posted this:

I guess I need to explain what exactly is going on....

This grille is a Genuine Honda Accessory from Europe. We got it because it seems as though people will like to go for this look. The problem is, the grille is too expensive to justify buying it. $600 minimum, and that is without paint! So my plan was to get the grille and copy it in less expensive fiberglass. While at it, it seemed to make sense to take the general design and make an A version as well as an H version...

First we needed to get the genuine Honda part from Europe so we could use it to mock up. That's what this is.

Second we need to test fit it to an American car because we really can't say for sure if this grille is even compatible with the US bumper!

Third, once we test fit and we know the extent of work ahead, we can reshape this part as needed to make it suitable to make a mold, with the H on it. Make the part and start selling.

Forth, once we have a H copy fitted that looks good, we will do more reshaping to fit the A emblem. Then we can make and sell that part.

Our standards are pretty high, so we are looking for a factory fit and high quality. A fiberglass part I am going to estimate at $300-350 on the price, for either H or A on it. Paint will bump it like $65 more.

I am assuming people will be interested in these...since the grille is the only really sticking point on this car, and even those who are ok with it will possibly want to change it to stand out.

I am 99.9% sure the modulo grille will fit the North American TSX's.

-3 bar euro grille fits my TSX perfectly
-Modulo grille is a direct replacement for the 3 bar euro grille
-THUS, modulo grille should fit fine with the TSX as well.

But knowing you Marcus, you probably still want to get that test fit.

I hope im not the one bugging about the Acura. Anyways $350 is definitely reasonable for a grille. I have always gone back and forth with paintmatching the stock grille but was always unsure. I like the styling of the Modulo and feel it would definitely look good with either the Honda or Acura symbol. The grille kind of resembles the grille style of the 1G TSX.

I could do a design like the mugen bumper one...Can't promise it would have the mugen emblem in it though, you'd need to do that yourself. I am not that into ripping off the name.

I promise, after shipping and paypal fees....its going to cost darn near $600 if it is less at all. I don't call a part that costs so much and is so small "easy money" at all. Try not to dumb me down to someone who is trying to take advantage of people. Yes, I do need to make money but I won't make any selling one or none of these every year.

Even if you can get one for $450 shipped to the USA, people still need paint. $350 painted is more realistic. By all means let us know what you come up with. But I don't think you are going to do much better. I have checked in Japan too. This part is just expensive.

63000 after tax, today that converts to $713.67 USD!

That's the RETAIL price.

Marcus, your price is more than reasonable. I went to Lings in UK and look one up in CBP Part # 08F21-TL0-6B0A and it's GBP 323 or USD $530. Add shipping which is at least another $200 plus duties and taxes on arrival, you will end up paying at least $800 plus.

Thanks for doing all the hard work for us, much appreciated.

Ok I'm sorry, you are right, maybe you have correct price. Anyway H grill, exactly same like I have cost in Poland 350-400$ and its already painted because original Honda Access parts here must be ordered with colour code and all come ready to install. Try www.honda-access.com select Poland and see for yourself.

I think emblems and grill shape are restricted product of honda and acura. Someone designed it, worked on it. What you are going to do will make you a thief. If you want do it for yourself, but dont sell it and earn money for ideas that are not yours. Life Dies - I agree with you in this thread.

born2blaze, I am not sure about Poland, but it's not illegal to have replacement parts that are not OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). And dealers cannot void your warranty if you put replacement parts on your vehicle (as long as they meet OEM specs).

Here in North America, you can get replacement hood, bumper, grille etc from different suppliers (eg You can get a replacement chrome BMW 3 series grille for under $100, a lot less than dealer).

Varranty void is a different topic. We are talking here about exact copy of product, dont tell me its legal. I can see HeelToe is doing great job with his work to supply you guys. I dont want to argue with you guys, thats not my point. But think If I buy one pair of sunglasses from i dont know... Versace, and I will make exact same model 1/4 price... even without Versace logo, it will be illegal. Now go to court and say that original Versace price you think it was stealing. Do you think they will understand?

Even the inferior CAPA Certified aftermarket body parts that many insurance companies dictate that their body shops use are *slightly* different than the originals. It's my understanding that is how they skirt the law on reproduction parts.

To copy an original product is not something I would be interested in personally, and yes, it's infringement, legally questionable and hard to defend. I shouldn't have said "and there's nothing wrong with that" because there is, but I'm not my brother's keeper.

So its gonna be $350ish for the replica grill made out of fiberglass? How much for an oem grill the accord type s. 600 doesn't seem to bad when considering how much the replica is projected to cost.

$350 is a lot less than $600 last time I checked...almost half actually.

And OEM Type-S grille is MORE. Over $600! All the chrome pieces are costly!

Type S grille is the same as normal grille in Europe. I like the sports grille better and don't forget $600 does not include shipping, duties and taxes which can push cost upto $800 plus.
