Mobil 1 0w20 extended perform

Hey everyone, just a heads up- Mobil 1 finally has the 0w20 in the extended performance 5 galling jugs at Walmart. I just saw this finally when going to get my normal m1 0w20.

I didn't pick up the ep, I stuck with regular M1, but thought I would let everyone know. I used the 10w30 ep in my honda and for some reason just kept getting leaks. May be totally irrelevant and the car had a lot of miles but even after fixing the leaks it would leak again all the time. So I figure at 27k miles I would stick with regular m1 oil. I usually get about 7500 miles between changes and change every 6 mos. I also stick with purolator pure one filter.

Any thoughts on sea foam or techron to clean out fuel system? Almost at 30k. I use 93 all the time from shell- but still may need a cleaning in fuel injectors and system.

Oil that meets specs is virtually identical to other oil that meets that spec. If you have 10W30 oil then it is impossible that the oil is the cause of the leaks - or even a contributing factor. If a certain viscosity oil leaks through a break in a gasket then the only way to stop the oil from leaking is to fix the leak or use a "thicker" oil - the brand makes no difference.

A modern engine of our design, run on quality gas and frequently driven for longer stretches, rarely needs any additives. I would certainly stay away from Seafoam as it was originally formulated for carb engines and - as far as I can tell - the only thing modified has been the instructions.

Your car is under warranty. If you have driveability issues then take it to the dealer and have them fix it. If you don''t have issues then stay away from the additives - your car and your wallet will thank you.

So is 50,000 miles to late to switch over to Mobile 1 EP?

Just a 2nd on Mobil 1 - if leaks occur -it's due to existing engine wear.

Modern fuel additives in gasoline negate the need for additional fuel additives or fuel system flushes.

You can switch to syn oil at anytime. I tried the EP oil in my TSX; but, the higher cost compared to already exceptional protection from the regular mobil 1 5w-30 seemed like over-over kill. I've used mobil 1 in my TSX, RDX (required) and MDX (still use OEM oil filters). I've noticed a very slight increase in combined mpgs of about 1/4 mpg combined. My TSX has +111,000 miles and the RDX has +106,000 miles and they don't use any oil between the M.I.D. oil changes. If you keep your car for +100,000 miles, there should be less sludge build-up in the engine block. I haven't added any oil or fuel additives to my vehicles and I usually get all my gas a Sam' club (always 5-10 cents cheaper there).

I did notice my TSX ran a little better and mpgs went up when I did the 100,000 mile service (spark plugs, valve adjustment). I think I got back some HP/mpg I lost from the worn spark plugs. I will not wait that long for now on and change the spark plugs around a 50,000 mile intervals. The spark plugs only cost me $12 each on Amazon and the Acura tech said they were the same as OEM.
