May have just fixed an infuriating rattle, is it a problem for you too?

I've had a rattle in the passenger seat/footwell/glovebox area lately, mostly just when I go over short staccato bumps at 30-45+ mph. Sounds like two plastic or metal pieces just tapping each other. I thought it might be a quarter or something banging the seat frame, but I tore the car apart and nothing. Then tonight I finally started looking under the dash, and think I found something. I had my cabin filter changed recently, and I think that's around when it started.

So looking under the dash in the passenger footwell, next to the transmission tunnel, there is a plastic tab that rests in a big slot:

You can kinda see it there. See how there's a rubber bumper thing on the plastic prong? My bumper was missing, and just sorta tucked between the two panels. Pulled the tab out, slid the bumper on, and re inserted the tab. The panel freely flexes, so I bet it was bouncing against the slot it's in causing the rattle. I'll find out on my way to work tomorrow.

Here's a better pic of the bumper thingy:

Hope this helps somebody, and fixes my rattle!!!

Oh, so that's where that bumper thing goes! I found it on my floorboard when I was messing around taking panels off a few weeks ago. I might have thrown it away. No rattling for me though.

rattles suck .....glad you found it...!!

when I bought my car (used) it had a strange rattle in the center of the dash, I later found out it was coins in the CD player which Acura doesn't cover.

I do have this rattle too. Mine has been very intermittent so I haven't made an issue out of it yet. I will give this a check.

Thanks man!
