Just Picked Up a 2010 TSX. My Thoughts:

Hello!

Been lurking here for a few weeks now and just picked up my 2010 Acura TSX 6spd w/ Technology Package (very rare, I might add) in Premium White Pearl last week, and I figured it was time to make an appearance here.

So I have been driving the car for a little less than a week with about 350mi on it (had to drive 200 just to pick it up!) and here is my initial thoughts (not that anyone cares, but here I go!):

  • Very smooth ride & smooth clutch, I have no complaints the way it feels and drives what so ever
  • I did not know until the dealer pointed it out to me that you can choose what mirror goes down when the car is in reverse (what ever mirror is selected on the driver side door). Very cool
  • The iPod interference is a bit sluggish :-/
  • The front seats are very comfortable and hold you in place very well. No one has sat in my back seat yet, but the back seems to be a little tight.
  • The voice command feature takes a little getting used to, but very cool.
  • The car seems happier / "peppy-ier" when it is above 3k RPM
  • I have no use for XM radio, as I have my iPod, but I find the traffic and weather features extremely cool.
  • Sound system sounds excellent. I usually have the volume between 7-10 with a max of 14 and had no speaker problems so far *knocks on wood*. Although after reading through these forums, I'm scared to take it above 15.
  • Overall, I love this car, and couldn't be happier!
My overall reasoning for getting the TSX was that it was a perfect combination of sporty, techy, luxurious, and came in a 6 speed. I am extremely satisfied with my car, and I am glad that I got it.

So if anyone else is complimenting getting the TSX, pull the trigger already!

I'll post pics of my rid in a few days, just waiting for the rain to clear up and to wash my car for the first time :-)

I'm picking my VBP '10 TSX in two weeks. I'm glad to see that at least some people are satisfied with their car.

Congrats- we just picked up a Base, 6 spd in Polished Metal over the weekend. No complaints about the Ipod interface- but then again there is not a ton of songs on my son's Ipod either. I did download some music to a USB flash drive, and that worked great as well. I was impressed with the sound system in the car- way better than the Bose system in my old Maxima. (If there are no highs or lows it has got to be Bose!) Clutch and tranny are the best. It is really tempting to wind out the engine, but we will have to wait until it is fully broken in. Our car had only 6 miles on it; the lowest we have ever had in a new car. You are right about the 6 spds being hard to find. A lot of dealers near us had them in their inventory, but evidently Acura has been slow actually getting the cars on to their lots.

The majority of owners of this vehicle are overly satisfied for the quality for the buck

I love the car. Had mine for only a week and the only thing that i see wrong so far is not so great acceleration until you get going a bit. But as far as the speaker thing is concerned, it doesn't really matter how loud you turn the speakers ive heard. If they are going to break, they will break if you play the system at volume of 1. Definitely is the best bang for your buck car out there in my opinion.

Same here...while on the test drive, both mirrors titled down. But now neither do and i can't figure out how to get them to do that.

^The passenger side tilts down when the mirror selector is pushed to far right and then you put it in reverse gear. The driver side doesn't tilt on our TSX, only on TL's and RL's.

^ same with UK models - I have to tilt the driver's side manually.

On my '10 V6:

If you put the mirror selector switch (the one that controls which mirror the adjustment buttons affect) all the way to the left when the car is in reverse, the driver-side mirror will tilt down. If you put the mirror selector switch all the way to the right when in reverse, the passenger mirror will tilt down.

There isn't a setting to get both to go down simultaneously - you choose one or the other with the selector switch.

i have an 09 tsx 6spd and i couldn't be happier with it. My lease is up next June (2011), so I'll have to see how the finances speak to me but I'm hoping to get into a newer tsx.

one of my biggest wishes about this car is that the I can use my zune in the car. I hate that most cars have *just* an ipod interface. oh well....I'll just continue using it via the aux cable

excellent choice! I, too, have PWP 6MT w/ tech. I'll knock on wood as well as I haven't experienced any of the issues others are having with speakres being blown, engine pinging, etc. I listen to my music at 10 most of the time. Congrats on the car!

Hmmm...

When in reverse, selector to passenger, only my passenger mirrors will adjust down. If I move the switch to driver side to reverse it doesn't do anything.

To the OP: congrats on the pickup.

Could be an extra 'line of code' to enable reverse tilt down for the V6 cars? I'd test it but we're sold out of V6s right now

Congrats on the car ! We just got our 2010 also..but Grigio over Ebony auto Tech Pkg.

Much nicer ride over the 2005 we had/ still have (our "new" winter car). The 2010 is definitely a bit larger, smoother, and over-all improved. Very happy with it !!

On the mirrors tilting.... when my wife got home, I went right out and tried on ours..... only the passenger mirror will tilt and only if the door selector is moved to the right for that mirror. Moving the selector to the left or having it in the center, none of the mirrors move when shifted into reverse......

I'm kind of curious about this mirror thing now but I don't think it's specific to the V6 or I4 platform. The OP, Kiggold (I4 6Spd) and Jsilas (V6) have stated they both have this feature, while the majority of other users including myself (V6) and others (I4 included) have discovered we don't have it.

I also hear that only the TL's and RL's are supposed to have this, could it be a bug if a 2G owner would have this? LOL

^ All I know is that my 2010 TSX V6 Tech has this feature. Either mirror will tilt when selected with the switch.

Could it be a V6 + Tech Package thing? Seems awfully unlikely...

edit: nevermind - seems other owners with I4 claim this feature works on their rides too...

^May be Colin is on to something. My 09 Tech does not reverse tilt on the driver side, looks like some 10 model do. Even the 2010 brochure stated only passenger side mirror reverse tilt.

Since Japan, UK, Australia as well as New Zealand all has RHD, they will have their left mirror reverse tilt. Must be a programming thing. Colin, can you find that out for us from Acura?

I'm pretty sure that it's a V6 feature and the OP is incorrect that the drivers side tilts on a 4 cyl. (edited to add I mean no offense)

I am not so sure about that. Just scanned through the 2010 TSX owners manual https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...BTL12010OM.pdf
and on page 146, it stated only passenger side mirror reverse tilt. No mention of anything about V6 model being different.

My wife and I HATE door dings. As such, whenever we can, we hug curbs and try to get as far away from neighboring cars as possible.

However we also HATE curb rash. As such, when I'm backing into a parking space with a curb on my left side, the mirror tilting down helps me hug the curb tightly without curbing the wheels.

I have a 2010 base model and the driver side does not tilt down whatsoever. I'd like for those who claim that their driver side mirror tilts down to post a video.

I have a V6 and only the passenger side tilts down. You don't really need the driver side to til anyways.

I don't care if my driver side doesn't tilt down. I just want to get a definite answer as to whether or not the driver side tilts down. Like VTX, you don't really need it to tilt down. Unless, you're a really bad driver.

I guess those are valid reasons, avoiding having to sit up in your seat to look at your mirror a different angle.

I don't think it matters what volume you listen to. I don't listen to mine very loud but I still had to replace 5 of them. I haven't had another one go out in a year and a half and I have listened to it loudly more as of late.
