Question How do you stop the seatbelt warning?

I don't always wear my seatbelt so when I don't I want to be able to not hear the chime or the ladies voice. Is there a way to bypass it?

There is a setting called voice recognition feedback. Turn it to off and the voice will stop but the beep will continue.

I too would actually love to turn this off.

I always wear my seatbelt, always always, but... I like to turn the car on before I put on my seatbelt (give the navi extra time to warm up) and I don't like those few minutes of beeping while I get myself situated in the car!

If you really want to defeat it, it'd probably have to be an active defeat by buying a used seatbelt at a salvage yard, then cut the latch off and stick it in the receptacle. More trouble than it's worth, IMHO.

Mine doesn't beep or b*&%h when I'm not moving, neither should yours.

Go to your dealer and request a seatbelt extender. One of these:

By law, they have to give you one for free. Snap it in and it'll convince your car that your full seatbelt is snapped in. I wear my seatbelt, but this is what my brother-in-law did in his Lexus.

Those of you saying your seatbelt warning doesn't beep when you're not moving - are your cars auto or MT? (Mine's MT...)

The seatbelt extension is a great idea, but I'm a small person, so that probably wouldn't work well for me I like the way my seatbelt fits as is. Good idea, though!

Huh? The seatbelt extension was recommended for plugging it in and NOT using your seatbelt to keep the seatbelt safety reminder from beeping.

Mine's manual, and to the best of my knowledge, she doesn't complain until I've driven over...9(?) MPH. If I start the car and sit idle with the parking brake on or off it doesn't beep or b&*(h.

Take it from somebody who just totalled a TL AWD with no seat belt on. You should wear your seat belt! I never wore my seat belt ever. It's been a month and I still can't get down on my knees. It hurts so bad! I couldn't even walk at first. If I had my seat belt on my knees wouldn't have hit the dash.

This must be some sort of setting, then. I'll check it out. I don't get the beeping for the passenger seatbelt until the car is going (when the doors auto-lock), but my driver's side belt beeps right away and drives me nuts!

I'm a big fan of seatbelts. Not as big a fan of beeping, though.

I hate the feeling of not having a seat belt on. Feels like I'm in a slip and slide the whole ride.

Ahh, I see what you mean. On initial startup, is does beep for 8-10 seconds and the seatbelt red light is on. But, after that the beeping stops if you're sitting still. The red belt indicator stays on solid, though.

I tried to make it come on by sitting in the car starting, then idling with the parking brake on then off with my foot on the brake pedal for 2 minutes each. No yellow warning on the MDI, no voice, no beep after the initial one at startup, just the red seat belt warning light.

Is that what you mean?

Yep! The initial startup beep.

My startup routine is get in, start the car, put it in neutral (so I can release the clutch), fasten my seatbelt, get comfortable, set the navi/music, release parking brake, and then drive off into the sunset. I don't think I've ever let it get past the 10 secs or so of beeps - I feel like the car is screaming at me, and I try to shut it up ASAP. :-p

Yeah, only way to avoid that would be to put the belt on before starting. Which is a PITA because I invariably forget to grab my lunch, or cell phone, etc and have to go back in the house, which makes for an extra step with the belt on. I do this so often that I have a two-piece keychain with the house key separate from the car. <=/

There has to be a fuse somewhere in the car. . .

I've had other cars that had this issue and I could disable it by pulling a specific fuse.

On another car, it was actually in the ECU. When I had it dyno tuned I had the tuner disable it. That's the best way to do it.

We just have to figure the fuse layout out.

I just start my car and immediately put on my seatbelt. The one second of beeping doesn't really bother me.

Just wear your goddamn seatbelt. It's beeping for a reason man...

You just can't keep off your knees.

Just messin' with ya. I had to do it, though. Hope you learned your lesson about not buckling up.

If you really want to bypass the beeping, just buckle the belt and then sit on it.

That reminds me of a kid that worked for me one time. The guys were talking about prison and dropping soap and all that when he said; "Situational homosexuality is different."
