As djhtsx posted on his thread, some modifications have to be made. I don't want to cut any wires whatsoever, so I've decided to buy some sockets, connectors, and pins, and make adapters. I will make adapters from 04321-SM4-409 (3P 090F) to 04321-SM4-405 (2P 250F) for the turn signal, 04321-SH2-305 (4P 090F) to ? for brakes, and I'll make two Y splitters 04321-SJD-305 (2P 090F) to connect the license plate lights and inner tail light LEDs. I found most of the connectors and sockets and will order them. Will let you know how they come along.
Alternatively, you could always buy the connectors that match the LED tail lights, remove the connectors from the wire harness, and use the new ones. However, I want to make sure I can easily revert back to the OEM tail lights if I want to.
If I had more time I'd design and 3D-print adapters so there's no wires in between the connectors at all. I'm actually surprised they don't make these.

I am not afraid to repin connectors or solder as I do that weekly at work, but when it is on my car, I'd rather not paint myself in a corner, and have the connectors and allow for it to return to stock easily as you had suggested

It's -24C (-11F) in Toronto so needless to say, I have not been able to install my lights. However, this gave me plenty of time to look for connectors and this is what I've found:
All connector are manufactured by Sumitomo Wiring Systems and are as follows:
For the turn signals:
Need to convert from 3P 090M to 2P 250F. This requires 2 X 2P 250F (04321-SM4-405) and 2 X 3P 090M (04321-S2A-305) connectors.
For the break lights:
Need to convert from 4P 090M to 3P 090F. This requires 2 X 3P 090F (04321-SM4-409) and 2 X 4P 090M (98532-00004-00)
For the license to inner LEDs Y Splitter:
Need to split the 2P 090F so there are two pairs for each license light and inner LEDs. This requires 2 X 2P 090M (04321-ST5-305) and 4 X 2P 090F (04321-SJD-305)
In all cases, appropriate terminals are also required, and of course, the crimping tool.
The connectors and terminals will be around $50 because most come in packs of 5. However, what I don't like is that you can't buy the terminals by themselves. They sell terminals with pigtails, i.e. the metal piece with a wire already connected to it. Which means I'd have to use the pigtail and terminal connectors meaning there will be wires coming out of each connector joint together in the middle. I rather have no breaks in the wire at all. Maybe I'm too picky.
One alternative is to design 3D models of these adapters and have them printed, probably for less than $50, whith no wires between connectors, nothing to crimp, etc. But it'll take time to create those 3D models.

Burning Brakes
Looks really nice....

BTW, I just found a site in the US that can ship every single part, and they ship as little as 1 as opposed to buying 5 at a time. I'm inquiring to see if they ship to Canada. Will let you know.
#252
thanks, if you have to buy multiple connectors, count me in and that could offset the cost for both of us. especially if it is cheaper to ship within the US and have me send a less bulky/expensive package to cananada

Yes, precisely. The parts list is so long because for each adapter we need two connectors, a male and a female, one to connect to the original harness, and one to connect to the LED lights. And for each connector we need terminals, the little metal pins.

Thanks for all the great information everyone. I am following this closely and will buy a set when I have some extra cash! The connectors worry me a little as I have never done anything like that.
I knew it would only be a matter of time till nice LED tails came out for the TSX. TL's make me jealous with their's... haha

No, the list is correct. We DO need male connectors. Unlike djhtsx we do not plan to cut the original connector off and use the new connector. We therefore need the male connector to plug into the harness.
For example, for the turn signal, we need this connector to plug the harness in:
Then we connect the connector above with wires with this connector:
Finally, the connector above gets connected to the LED tail lights. We can't remove the original male connector from the original tail lights to use here because while the harness plugs into it, the other side has a bulb, not wires.
I hope this explains why we need the male connectors - to plug the OEM harness into them.

makes perfect sense to me!
I called the company again and left a message, but they seem pretty difficult to reach.
I will be trying this company today: http://sumitomoconnector.com/

I've e-mailed tens of distributors so far and the ones that got back to me only sell in minimum quantities of 100. If we can't find these connectors any time soon, I think we'll have to go through Honda/Acura and buy them from there. Last I checked, they sold packages of 5, for connectors, and packages of 25, for terminals. But, insltead of the average cost of $0.20/connector, at Honda it's $10 for 5, so it comes up to $2/connector. I think I estimated about $50 for all parts, but if we split the cost it's not that bad.
#274
well damn:
"We are able to get all of the parts but not in the quantities you desire. Many of the parts come in 200 - 1000 piece requirements such as the housings or several thousand piece requirements such as the terminals. It is also possible to piece together the pieces in the quantities you need through several different locations but the result is that the cost will be quite high due to shipping from many destinations and the time to get the parts together. Is this a project you can allocate several hundred dollars in low qty or several thousand pieces in standard quantities for?"
so looks like we gotta go through Honda/Acura
