High pitched whine from engine bay?
So about 2 weeks ago my car started making a weird high pitched whine noise that gets louder as the car revs up.
All signs pointed to the alternator, which I just got done replacing about an hour ago. the car STILL makes the noise. I checked the belt as well and it's still totally fine.
Any ideas on what else could be causing this whine?

Check all of your pulleys for any type of wobble/play.

^ ill take a vid of it tomorrow.
I think it's my idler or tensioner pulley. they are so cheap that i will just replace both.

Can you guys be more specific because now I think I am having the same problem....
I hear a whining that sounds like it's directly in front of my dash and increases in sync with RPM. I can audibly hear it from the cabin, but then I pop the hood and I can't hear it from outside. Is this what you guys are hearing as well? Sounds like an electric motor sound?

^ I still hear mine from outside and it sounds like it is coming from near the belt. and yea it's in sync with RPM.

mehhhh that doesn't make me feel good.
It literally happened right after I got my oil changed to synthetic, and rotated my tires.

It seems to me like the noise started as the weather started to get colder. I changed my oil a while ago and it just randomly started happening now so I think it might not be related. I still have to order replacement idler and tensioner pulleys and swap those out and see if it fixes the noise.

I don't understand why I can hear it from the cabin but not when I open the hood. Maybe Ill take a video later.

Yeah I don't get that either... doesn't make any sense. The noise is way louder in the cabin for me as well but I can still hear it clearly when the hood is open.

welp fuck...
AC line somehow slipped off the bracket that was holding it away from the SC pulley and burned a hole in the line. That's what was causing the noise.
Looks like it's gunna be close to $400 repair. Merry Christmas to me!
