Hidden Gems?

Wednesday I picked up my 2011 TSX Sportswagon with Tech Package. Are there any easter eggs that may not be obvious off the bat?

I know about the side view mirror in the R position tilting my passenger's mirror down when in reverse. I know about the auto windows down as well.

Now I just need to sell my 2005 TSX.

easter eggs? hmm...

Not really an easter egg, but I guess in the driver seat, beside your right leg there's a tiny pocket along the side of the console/wall. You can place pretty small items in there? Vice versa for the front passenger.

yeah... not really an easter egg lol

Best easter egg I found was after 3 years of owning the car. I could adjust my brightness for the radio and meter haha. I turned it as high as I could once I found it on the gauge cluster.

Insert your key into the drivers door and turn it to the right (or left) twice and hold down on the second (or first), All your windows will go up and your sunroof will close.

Also, have your mirror adjuster turned onto your passenger mirror and it will point down whenever you put your car into reverse.

This is on my 2012.

When your wipers are on and you shift into reverse, the rear wiper will come on.

This is honestly one of the most useful features. I'm surprised all cars don't do this.

Just wished it would work the same for the driver side when you put the thing into "L"... sometimes we gotta parallel on the other side on one-way streets!

My dad's car tilts down both of his mirrors when reversing.

Not on a TSX.

The RL had it and, quite frankly, most found it to be a bad idea as it doesn't allow you to see traffic coming up on you.

Ideally, you could decide which side tilted down but with the TSX it is the passenger side and with the RL it was both.

the 04-08 TL's had either or mirror selection.

i just pop the selector to either L or R and corresponding mirror will tilt when put in reverse.

Thanks everyone. The passenger mirror was really cool to discover. I rented a Volvo that did it, but it was much slower. The rear wiper I will have to check out. I assume there is still the courtesy wipe when releasing the brake. The moon roof being tied into the rest of the windows when rolling down is a nice addition. I think hitting the moon roof button once is one of the best improvements, I hated holding my old one.

Thanks for all the advice. I picked up the car then drove it about 800 miles int he first two days. Unfortunatly I have to be away from it for a week now on travel.

i am not sure this is a hidden gem but when you open the hood, you can open really wide by sticking the bonnet to the corner of right side...

Not hidden...but these make a drive more pleasant...
1. Sitting on towel so i can use the seat back heat and not feel the butt heat
2. Using a visor cd storage accessory so i can extend it to block out sun that sneaks through end of visor to pillar.

Honda has the worst sun visors on the market. I have wanted to figure out how to extend it, this is a great help.

The lower left hole for opening the hood was on the Gen 1 as well. Lots of people miss it, hopefully that helps someone else. I already put it to use to put the washer fluid hose back on the clamp hidden near the hinge.

I've found you dont need to hit the vol/on button if your stereo is off and you want to listen to it.
You can hit the button corresponding to the component you want to listen to.
Example: Hit the xm button and the last xm station goes on.

if you're gas cap isn't tight, the car will let you know instead of just throwing a check engine light.

Save your driver's seat settings to slot 1. If you ever change the driver seating position, the next time you unlock and open the door, the driver's seat automatically goes to the saved setting. Pretty sure it works with key fob 2, and setting #2. It's convenient when someone else drives the car temporarily (when in dealership).

Silly ones, but amazingly some people had no clue about them:

- Gas door has a little place to hang the gas cap
- There's a button on the trunk above the plate to pop the trunk open when the car is unlocked (I found out this 6 months after owning the car :/)
- Foot well lighting mod, link>> https://acurazine.com/forums/perform...d-free-880697/
- Turn off DRL (remove fuse, no second effects)
- Armrest slides back and fort
- To enter diagnostic mode in you radio (non navi) press and HOLD 1 & 6 then TURN ON. There you can play with some settings including turning ANC on or off, not sure if it shows ground speed in KPH like the accords do

If i remember more I'll post them

On the fastest intermittent wiper setting, the wipers are in intermittent mode when you're stopped, then go to regular slow speed when you start moving. This might be common on current cars, but I've never experienced it before.

Are these courtesy or ambient? I put Ambinet in my Gen 1. The driver's footwell in mine is not working, need to look, have not had a chance. The passengers works wiht the doors.

I wish I had the shallow storage on the arm rest.

I found the vent for the arm rest compartment.

About $700 - $800 from the dealer, which includes the spare, mounting bolt, adapter, jack. You can probably find a kit for about $500 on the web somewhere. Google OEM Acura parts.

For now, I can live with an air compressor and can of goo. But if I were driving through death valley, I'd definitely want a spare.

Active Noise Cancellation™ (ANC) uses the audio system to generate out-of-phase sound waves to reduce engine noise inside the cabin and create a more pleasant driving experience.
