Help! Trying to replace my bulbs

I looked and looked but couldn't find it...if there's anyone that can point me to the right direction or just tell me how to do it, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm trying to replace just the bulb of the lo beam. Fogs were cake, highs seem to be fairly easy but the lows seam almost impossible. If there's an easier way of doing this, pls show me. Thanks!

Lows are HIDs. What are you trying to replace them with?

gaTorSXtasy 12-18-2012 04:26 PM

Replacing just the bulb with D2S 6k bulbs

gaTorSXtasy 12-18-2012 04:26 PM

Still HIDs

Remove the bumper, it's much easier to get in there. Also use this to see how the bulb is attached in there.

^ this! removing the bumper makes your life like 1000x easier compared to trying to do it blind with no room.

Why does Acura make replacing bulbs so damn difficult. You have to remove the bumper to be able to easily replace a headlight bulb?! Am I the only one who that's that's completely ridiculous? I was actually planning on replacing my headlight bulbs with some Philips 5000k bulbs I have tomorrow, but there's no way I'll be trying that now.

it's not just acura.. i had to do the same thing with my mazda6.

When I replaced the headlights on my 02 RSX-S I had to remove the bumper and the housing...it's so annoying!

So I've decided...before I remove the bumper yet again, I'm gonna go ahead and just grab all the parts for the mods that I wanna do that requires removing the bumper...that way, I can just take it off one more time rather than doing it for each and every mod. I have a feeling I'm gonna be holding on these bulbs for a while :/

already had my front bumper off twice swapping the HID bulbs....don't even try without removing the bumper!

HID bulbs have a life span of about 100k miles (which is why they are covered under the warranty) and - because of the high voltages involved - aren't inteded to be user replaceable.

Think of the HID bulb more like a timing belt rather than a traditional lightbulb.

SlickxAc 12-19-2012 02:23 PM

after you get the hang of removing the bumper it isnt that hard.

gaTorSXtasy 12-20-2012 12:08 AM

Yeah I know...it takes maybe 10 mins at the very most but it's still annoying as hell.

gaTorSXtasy 12-23-2012 12:45 PM

So driving around the other night and I realized that one of my fogs was out...so today I decided to go ahead and work on it. I go thru the whole troubleshooting process. The conclusion I came up with is that the fuses are blown...so I replace them. Now neither of them work...WTF. Help pls!

hahahahahahahaha what silliest thing i have ever heard. Dont touch the bulb it self the oil on your fingers will damage them thats the onlything that could go wrong.

gaTorSXtasy 12-23-2012 03:11 PM

Ok so I tried replacing the fuses with a 15 and they still don't work...any suggestions?

odus 12-23-2012 07:18 PM

is the fuse blowing still or the fuse fine just no fogs still?

gaTorSXtasy 12-24-2012 08:56 PM

Fuse is blowing out but the lights aren't even turning on to begin with...

From the RDX service manual

"HID Bulb Replacement

Warning: A transient high tension (25,000 V) occurs at the bulb sockets of the high intensity discharge (HID) lamps when the combination light switch is turned ON, it may cause serious electrical shock or electrocution..."

Because of this danger (and the amount of incredibly stupid people out there who are clueless about the dangers) manufacturers warn against changing the bulbs yourself.

The advice about not touching the bulbs applies to any halogen or HID bulb.

Your arrogance about not recognizing the dangers makes you a prime candidate for Darwin. The warnings are there for a reason. Changing the bulbs yourself is obviously possible if you recognize the possible pitfalls.

yes the allmighty service manual that acura wrote and would never want you to come in an pay money for something never nope. keep being afraid of your bulbs so acura service gets your money. you should stay away from automobile if you think im a darwin canidate or look in a mirror.
