HELP! i need input on this half bumper im designing

first of all thanks to paul (pbhak) for your free bumper! =)

so im attempting to do a half bumper like the mugen version with my own aggressive taste

i need a second pair of eyes.

what should i add?
what should i remove?
what do you think would look good?

please post pics for some reference if you have some ideas

constructive criticisms please!

here's what i have so far taped up in green

1) fiberglassed the original shape of the bumper
2) i changed the shape of the mouth via cardboard
3) i added a lip on each side via cardboard

other designs i plan on adding on
1) modify the foglight housing area like my original version
2) add a horizontal bar to connect to the lip on each side
3) add some accents outside of the foglight area

i figured that i can fiberglass this piece separately and just create black brackets for them

yea i changed it up because i wanted to get rid of that awkward shape the OEM bumper has.

i was going to paint the horizontal bar flat black or wrap it in cf vinyl

also i can still add a thin horizontal bar wrapped in cf vinyl. i just have to use brackets to secure it.

Looks good Def. I'm always surprised you went with the replica kit since you are so into fabricating your own stuff....I thought you'd end up making your own full kit.

I personally don't like the sides dipping down so much--looks kinda like fangs...but I know you're going for the aggressive look so it should flow well with the rest of the car.

thanks

since im doing a half bumper, the materials are much more expensive. however if you're doing just a lip or something small, its inexpensive. probably like $50 altogether and some time.

replica kit is temporary. however i think the rear type s lip is a permanent keeper because i cut up the OEM rear a lot more in order for me to fit the ls tips.

i was aiming for that mugen bumper that has fangs and a horizontal bar. im still looking at other lip designs for inspiration so by the time i work with body filler, i get to refine the bevels

I actually made video clips of what I've done and will post them later on after I make the edits.

This was my first time working with spackle instead of body filler. This was so easy to sand which allows me to see results quicker. One thing I learned was not to leave this outside because moisture will crack the spackle. So I moved it inside my garage and decided to work in there from now on.

I'm still reading the fiberglass forum archives to see if I can pick up any new tips on how to work with spackle.

I plan on making a master mold out of this in case I break this.

Pryed the half bumper off the OEM bumper

Left side with spackle. Bottom lip sanded down a bit

The cardboard strip will be beveled. Also like the middle piece wrapped around the mouth area.
I plan to wrap that specific area in cf vinyl

3/4 done with the spackle. The part that doesn't have spackle had to be refiberglassed

Moved the half bumper inside the garage to prevent moisture from cracking the spackle

it would still use the OEM lower grill.

i took the lower part of the mugen bumper on the right and the idea of the half bumper on the left.
reversed the shape of the mouth from the left mugen bumper and added my own details to it with the bevels
