Gloss black roof wrap

Gloss black roof wrap
I've seen a couple cars at the hospital I work at with a gloss black roof. I am assuming it is a vinyl material of some sorts. I really like the way it looks. Does anyone have experience with the quality of materials, specifically longevity and maintenance, and what is an approximate price I could expect to pay for putting it on my vehicle.. Thanks
I keep trying to run into the people with the roof wraps, but we must work opposite shifts I guess.
Thanks again

You want 3M 1080 Vinyl Wrap. G12 is the Gloss Black. Should be less than $100 for materials and it's pretty forgiving stuff to install. You could do it yourself with some patience and a lazy afternoon.

Many cars these days come with black roof painted, not vinyl wrapped.
Chances are, if the cars looked stock with the black roof, it's painted (BMW, Kia, Hyundai are the ones that come to mind). If the car was modded, mostly likely vinyl.
I'm not saying what you saw wasn't vinyl, just saying its a chance it's painted OEM.
Prices to get the job done are around 150-300 (labour + material).

I fool around with various vinyls. (have a sign plotter/cutter) It's tricker than you'd imagine ..and a large panel that size with a couple of buddies you've fed brews is a recipe for disappointment.
Find somebody who does wraps for money.

That's not paint on those cars, it's a panorama roof which is typically tempered glass. Ultimately a huge sun/moonroof. As far as the vinyl goes, it's definitely a DIY project. You can buy a supply kit from autozone, advance, etc... that comes with a squegee, small blade for trimming excess vinyl, and a spray to use for laying the vinyl down. I would order the vinyl from jdmfv.com (jdm fanatic vinyls). If you feel more compfortable having someone else install the wrap, any sign shop can do it for under $100 in less than an hour. Hope this helps and good luck!
