Gas Mileage with big rim, fat tires?
Hi guys,
I used to have TL and now back with TSX wagon.
I am planning to get 19s on all 4 corners and debating if I should go 9.5" or stick to 8.5". I am hesitating to go 9.5" because I don't want to mount 225/35 or 235/35 but 245/35. With 245/35, I am considered about the gas mileage since it's my DD and 19" would be fairly heavy already.
What kinda gas mileage are you guys getting with big fat tires and fairly heavy aftermarket rims? I am currently getting 27.xmpg for mostly high way driving.

Assuming your tires are in spec and your driving habits don't change much, I'm guessing the bigger factor is the weight of your rims, not the fact that you have wide 19s. Stock rims are already pretty heavy, ~25 lbs IIRC, so it shouldn't be hard to find lighter or comparable weights if that's a concern for you.
