CU2 -- 6 years in...

Hey all, last month marked the 6 year "birthday" of my 09 6MT. I am currently at 165,000km (103,000 miles)

I had some serious doubts about the car when in the first year alone I the car had TSBs / Warranty work for:

- Rear Brakes
- VTEC Actuator
- Sun Roof Seal
- Roof Trip
- Front Hood Flex
- And of course the massive oil burning issue (did the work at 73km)

Initial hiccups aside, it's been smooth sailing since. I just changed the spark plugs, oil and filter -- and day / night -- it feels likes the car is brand new again.

It's great to see this car aging well.

How are your cars aging?

My car is still a baby at 18-19k km lol. Still feels like new.

I may have seen your car at liberty village before... but I could be wrong. I'm the one parked by the Cisco/Achievers building near Dufferin.

Ahh the VTEC actuator was really hard for me to get the dealership to test. On a warm start you don't hear the symptoms. Even parking my car over night, they weren't able to replicate it... so I actually video-recorded the start up and sound -- they were able to apply the service bulletin based on the video clip.

TPMS might just be the sensors. Not sure if you have a second set of tires (winters?) that you might be able to test.

The brakes, I wound up not solving the problem with the replacement and just swapped them completely and was fine.

Hope the issues get better!!!

18k? Woah! I wish. Lucky you, that's great.

And YES, that was me in Liberty Village. I was over at the Liberty Market Building for some time and I had underground parking but frequently parked outside beside the Indie 88.1 radio station there. We recently moved downtown though.

What a small world!!!!

My dealer claimed they never heard or replicated the noise, same as you. even the vid wasnt good enough apparently... so i kept taking it in over and over. Eventually they replaced it as "good will to customer"

Thanks will keep an eye out

Even though all the things replaced on my car has been under warranty

But still $4000 of warranty work in 6 months with under 30 k miles doesn't give me too much confidence

We shall see

All the other shit will break, but it's a honda so you know the drivetrain should be pretty damn reliable.

I am one of the 1st Beta testers for the 2nd gen TSX.
Purchased my 2009 TSX back in late May 2008. It will be 7 years old.
It has 90,000 miles on it and has had all the routine scheduled maintenance.
Aside from all the TSB's I have not had any real issues with the car. No major repairs at all. Very reliable and well built car. Plan to keep if for another 2-3 years.

Mine is 6 yrs and only 45,000km

And no, I've had NO issue whatsoever ... all I've been doing these 6 yrs has been oil change, air filter change, brake adjustment ... that's it!

Interesting you brought up hood flex issue though ... I never thought about it until you mentioned it, but I do notice once in a while, on windy days, when driving on the highway I do notice the hood seems to move if I pay attention to it.

Is it on the TSB?

Congrats to the OP, I have my 09 TSX since June 2008, so it's almost 7 years old at 225,000km (140,000 miles). Besides blown speakers, both drive shaft, top pulley tensioner and 3 windshield wiper motors (all replaced under warranty), the car has been problem free.

Mine turned 7 this month, bought new in May of 2008. Other than all the warranty work from first-year model issues, I have only done regular maintenance and nothing else. Up to 123k miles at this point and plan to keep going for a while.

I've had my 2010 since October 2009, and it has 87,500 miles, some of them "hard" miles on the rough streets of Philly. It's been very reliable, but has had a few issues.

1. The AC was low on freon within the first year, and may have come from the factory like this.

2. Plastic trim near the sunglasses holder started to rattle, and was fixed under warranty.

3. Rear brakes replaced at around 35,000 miles.

4. Front struts needed replacement a few years ago, undoubtedly from the bad roads in this area.

5. At one point, it seemed to be burning oil, but I think it's OK. This happened with my old SAAB too, which burned oil only once over 137,000 miles.

Currently, it has a serious rattle/grind between the driver's door and B pillar, which was intermittent until recently but is now constant. The passenger side speaker seems to be rattling too. Otherwise, it feels amost as solid as new. Front brake rotors need to be replaced.

So, overall I've been happy with the TSX. After 11 years in European cars, I wanted something more reliable that offered better handling than the typical family sedan, and the TSX is exactly that.

Five boring years for me. Oil changes is about all. Oh, I did have to replace rear pads at like 35K which I find odd but appears to happen to alot of the 1st year cars. Overall though Im really happy with how well it has aged. Still drives well, everything works right, and no wierd noises or rattles.

I'm at 3 years of ownership with my 2012 (May 2012), bought it with 17k km, I have added 108,000km in this short time. At 125,000km now but still going strong until I finally lowered it and blew a strut.

Finally getting around to modding this like I intended. Koni Yellos Friday and Wheels Saturday make me very excited.

heh ... the TSX is our 2nd car and during the weekdays my wife drives it to work that is 8km away. So it is really my 'weekend car' more than anything.
