Clear Bra Questions
Hey all, I picked up a Sport Wagon Memorial Day and glad I did. Its not my first Honda,..half a dozen motorcycles, two Civics, an Accord, and an S2000, but its my first Acura.
When I bought the S2000, I drove it around for the first weekend, then I put it away for fear of getting rock chips. I had the vinyl bras on the others, but none were available yet for the S. Then, after poking around on the internet looking for one, I found this 3M product. I figured it was like the black bra only clear but I was wrong, it was more like a big piece of Scotch tape. More searching and there was no one local that knew anything. As a matter of fact, the closest place I found was like 1000 miles away.
Long story short, if I wanted it on my car, I'd have to DIY. It dawned on me that there was an opportunity here to start my own business applying this product so I jumped in with both feet.
Fast forward a dozen years and here I am, still at the office trying to get ready for tomorrow, but I like to check this site when I can to learn more about my car. I've been seeing a lot of clear bra questions mixed in with other threads. Figured rather than hyjack those posts, if anyone has any questions about paint protection film, post them here and I'll try and answer them the best I can, when I can.
Please no questions about price, everyone is going to be different. Company A might use a brand of film that costs half as much as Company B. Company C might have its own shop and have to factor in overhead costs, D might be working out of a basement or trunk of his car.
Heres a link to a pattern for the TSX but its not the only one.

We never remove the wax except around tough edges like on mirror or deep valleys like a Mercedes hood. The film won't last forever, its not a Ginsu knife, and having a good coat of wax makes it easier to remove. Air bubbles can be removed with a syringe by first injecting the area to fill it up with a water and alcohol mix and then can be sucked our clean.
The best time to film the car is when its brand new before it gets chips, it makes no sense to spend the money protecting the paint on a car thats already beat up.
