If he signed the car over to you, then it's your's.

You should not have any problem. There is some other things that you have to provide to receive the money for the clunkers program. The best thing for you to do is drive to your local Acura dealer and go over it with them.

FYI, i traded in my clunker last month and if you plan on financing your new vehicle, whomevers name is on the title must finance the car but there can also be a cosigner. Just make sure you bring proof of registration and insurance for at least 1 year. My dealership spent all day on my trade in and after i signed the paperwork they told me i was the 1st and last one for this program at their dealership lol.. nothing personal just that the program is a real headache and he showed me why with a folder packed of documents he had to fill out.. Good luck! let me know if you have any other questions

this is how it will work:

- who ever the car was registered under currently, and has been registered to for the last year...the same name MUST be on the new car.

- the car must also currently be insured and have been insured for the last year

**DEALERRRSSSS follow the rules down to the dot because they want to guarantee they will get their money

so if the car has been registered under your fathers name, he MUST be present in the finance office to sign the papers required for the government program as well they will need a copy of his drivers license

It took me about 5 hrs to get my tsx because of all of the paper work and the dealer wanted to make sure everything was done properly.

Good luck man, if you do end up doing it its a greatttt deal and the tsx is such a great car!!

My dad spent the last week on his 2009 TSX which he was trading his old beat up farm truck (1988 Ford F-150) for which he got last night... problem was that we were only the third trade that the dealership had ever done on Cash for Clunkers and they made him sign TWO contracts for the car... one with the clunker and the $3500 for the truck and one without the clunker (according to them, in case they didnt get paid)... but it turns out that its illegal for them to force a second contract for C4C! Sheesh, now we dont know if the dealership will even work hard to get the C4C for the truck since they will now get paid either way!
