Bought a 09 TSX traded the TL
Well, I traded the TL for the TSX. It was sad to see my 06 TL go but I really liked the new body style of the TSX. I was going to buy an 2011 TSX but they had an 09 with 30K for 5K less so I went for that.
Why did I make the switch? (The TL guys probably think i'm crazy but here is why:
I get and extra 100+ miles out of a tank of gas than the TL, it's not just the tank size, the mileage is quite a bit better.
The 4 banger in the TSX is enough for me, it jumps when I need it to but rides smooth on the highway. I found myself speeding ALOT with the TL, that car just wants to go and after getting stopped three times in a year I thought the TSX wouldn't get away from me so much.
The interior of the 09 TSX is much better laid out than a 06 TL. It feels more like a cockpit than the TL.
The TSX just handles better in turns, I felt that the TL had some body roll in the corners and the TSX seems to hug the corners more.
I also felt that the power in the TL was almost too much for the front wheel drive, more than once the torque steer was annoying.
Don't get me wrong, the TL is a great car and very fun to drive but I felt the TSX was better for me. I am 45 and this is my go to work car, we use an suv for the kids, etc.
I know from reading posts that some people might find this opinion helpful in making a buying decision.

Congrats! If you mind me asking, what did you pay? I'm curious to know, as I have an '09 on lease, and I'll probably buy it out. Not the best financial decision, but I love the car and would hate to see it go. Plus mine has low miles.

i've got the 10 tsx I4, and it was at the dealer for a few days, and they gave me an 08 tl as a loaner. the tl was fun to drive, i enjoyed the power of the v6 thoroughly, but god damn did that thing eat gas. i drive agressively and i swear that gas level indicator did not stop jmoving down lmao. at first i thought there was a hole in the damn tank. but i tosses 6 gallons in and realized that the tank is a bit smaller, and obviously the 6 cyl eats more gas than the 4 cyl. that combined to just make me flip out hahaha.
the tsx is definately more fun in suburban driving because it does hug corners, and feels alot more tossable. the tl was a bit more firm to the ground, and i actually didnt like how it took curves. definately more responsive on the throttle though. switching lanes through small gaps was easier.
my 10 base tsx also has a bunch of options inside that the 08 tl doesn't, like streaming music through bluetooth. plugging it in through the aux everytime i got in was annoying. i like to get in and go.
if i had the choice of 10 tsx vs 08 tl, i would definately choose the tsx. i was happy i got the 08 though because i hate the new body style of the tl
