Available Turbo

I just picked up my RL from the dealership and spoke to the finance manager about the upcoming cars. He stated that they were offering some form of the turbo in the new TSX based off the RDX and it will offer some form of the SH-awd. Sounds weird since we've already got info on the car but he is providing this new info. Maybe all these will be a option. :wish:

turbo diesel...maybe.
Sh-awd..I'll believe when I see it.

shubysingh 03-10-2008 03:50 PM

its been rumored that that is for the type s version.
but acura tends to release the type s version later on, like in the tl's case, the type s came out in 07, even though the tl itself debuted in 04

Yea, it's been rumored for a while....but GOD I HOPE THEY DO!!!!

Like he said....turbo diesel (at least for me) would be heaven!!

Believe it when you see it, or when it appears on Acura's corporate web page.

I made a face, and the other manager in the office pointed out that the FM was talking about TSXs..... and I was asking about RDXs Erf...

One thing I can't get around, as a mechanical engineer, is why the fuel door has changed to a higher location.

This would signal that the fuel tank has likely also shifted. Anytime a change like this is made, it's ALWAYS made for a specific purpose. To me, the fuel door moving up and AWAY from the rear wheels may mean they were making space for somthing.. like a rear differential for AWD?? maybe??

I have a feeling we will see SH-AWD at some point, but it will likely be mated to the iDTEC turbo (European accord getting it.. confirmed at Geneva).. Just don't know about the RDX turbo, but we can continue to wish..

I hope we will get AWD too!

The only thing that will tempt me to get another TSX at this point is a Type-S with turbo and AWD. I am hoping that if we get SH-AWD, it won't be with the turbo diesel because that will make it way too slow...

I think that the turbo diesel will be targeting a more fuel efficiency conscious crowd whereas with SH-AWD it probably will be targeting a more performance oriented crowd, so my guess is that turbo diesel + SH-AWD is an unlikely combination. Just MHO.

Maybe the TSX's Pinto-like explosiveness has not yet been found by consumers but the factory moved the tank to stop them from grenading when rear-ended :tomato:

Just kidding of course. I hope you're right.

I could look past the 2009 TSX's abundant flaws (or what I perceive as flaws) if it had the turbo motor or at least a really hot naturally aspirated 4 cylinder. SH-AWD would be cool too, but I'd start with more machinery under the hood :)

Acura TSX 2009 presenter @ NY autoshow day 1 - did mention on future TSX with diesel turbo

NOT SURE HOW MUCH TRUTH WAS THERE..AFTER ALL SHE DID MAKE A MISTAKE ON THE SPEC DURING THE PRESENTATION

We know for sure that Acura will be offering a turbo diesel next year, and that it will be the four-cylinder i-DTEC that was at the Acura booth at Chicago. The TSX is the Euro Accord, in which this engine is already offered (though without an automatic until next year). I think we can all put 2 and 2 together here... Acura just wants to wait until the autobox is available.

It is wishful thinking though. Maybe 2010 or 2011??? I see turbo diesel a possibility, but I'm not holding my breath on the SH-AWD. Definitely would be cool though....

Then again, as of now....I wouldn't buy the tsx even if it did have a turbo diesel with sh-awd....Audi A4, here I come! (that is if I was in the market to buy a car) :)
