Anybody want LED Tails? Or Headlights?
Hey guys I did a ton of research on who made lights and stuff like that cause like a lot of you I really wanted Tailights! So i found on youtube this guy that made gorgeous LED tailights and headlights, so i shot him an e-mail, and as everyone im sure guessed he is from Russia! He was a really nice guy and responded extremely quickly. the kicker.....500 dollars for the headlights, 500 for the tailights, and you have to ship him yours, and it sucked cause this is exactly what i was looking for...at least for the tailights...This is the e-mail i recieved
Hello

I'll custom make some. Who wants brake lights that form the words "BACK THE" on the left and "FUCK OFF" on the right? I think it'll be a hit, or maybe not a hit, which is good for you!

Im too busy being popular and socially accepted, ill let one of you lame nerds handle it (pyrodave, tsxkid2012, pyrodave, etc.)
For the future person who will eventually spearhead this project:
You dont have to dismantle your car, pick up a used tail light on ebay and just ship it directly to the LED supplier, let them play with one and see how it turns out, it will only add like 45 bucks to the total cost of the project and your car will be drivable and you will have an extra set of tail lights.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ACURA-TSX-RI...item43aa8d0b34
For someone experienced with LED's the project should be easy as pie (only hard part would be cracking open the oem tail light carefully), add an LED driver or some shit, hook it up to a PCB, and make a ring of LEDs that go around in a circle and voila, we already had a huge thread where we all picked out the designs like a year ago anyway...
Do I wanna do it? No. My winter break is over and i dont know shit about circuits. Putting my car back in storage and going back to being an forum hero

And why would anyone want to copy the front of a BMW? If you're going to go LED, then at least do something different.

Because it looks great, of course. BMW has 4 wheels, damn Acura too. I want my TSX with 3 wheels, thats no copy.
Which car started with lips and spoilers, who the fuck cares if it looks good on my car and I like it!

To modify the headlights of a different car merely screams "I wanted a BMW but couldn't afford it."

BMW introduced the corona rings as a distinctive design feature. The only car that has this distinctive feature is BMW. Other cars have their own design features that are not copied.
This is clearly different from a functional feature like a seat belt. Had Volvo introduced their distinctive pink and chartreuse seat belts when everybody else had black seatbelts then yes, putting the pink and chartreuse belts in your car would be trying to make it look like a Volvo.
After Audi first used LEDs a few years ago, many cars have adopted them, but none in the same distinctive design of Audi.
An oval LED ring around the lights would be distinctive, but this just copies the BMW design.

although i wouldnt do this mod, it should cost like $200-$250 max
$500 is a rip off and the risk of not getting your headlights/taillights back since its overseas. way too risky. also shipping charges and potential damages during the back and forth transit.

That is absurd and you know it.

I know its absurd and its an extreme but i just don't buy into the whole "BMW/Audi did it first so everyone else who does it is tacky" mentality.
If it looks nice it looks nice, and if the auto industry was scared to copy then it would stifle innovation

i would pay 200~ish to a US seller to get those done to my tail lights. Hidillusionz worked with one of us here before to do halos on the 2G tsx, heres hoping they have good news for us

With who? I sent them an e-mail two days ago with no response, hopefully its just them closing for the holiday

This is actually an entirely different design feature. With the BMW (and the Russian Acura) the Corona rings are a solid surround for two headlights on each side. The Camaro has parentheses (O) around a single headlight.
Say (and type) what you like and try to continue to ridicule me but you really know that you're trying to copy a BMW design feature.

I see nothing wrong with copying a BMW, after all they didn't invent the car and even state they follow Apple design cues on many aspects of their marketing/brand. I just don't like halo style lights, yes they are different but so is leopard print shoes. Personal taste I guess.

They havent responded to me in a while! I really like how they those halos look, would just like two....im going to e-mail them again

In saying that it isn't the same as a BMW, do any other manufacturer have angel eyes besides BMW (srs question)?
IMO, Halo's are pretty iconic to the BMW range, just as the shield Grille to Acura. Though I guess that LED's are iconic to the Audi range as well...until it was made a mandatory safety rule in the EU.
The Halo just looks too small around the TSX projectors, the attractive thing about BMW Halos is that they're big!
I wouldn't mind some Audi LED's in our headlights like the RU team does though.
