Any dealership ok for maintenance?
I did not buy my '09 from the closest Acura dealership (McGrath in Morton Grove), because they would not budge from sticker. Interestingly, their big selling point was their "outstanding" service department, which offers free wi-fi in the waiting area and free drinks, free car washes, and "short" wait times. I ended up buying from the competition in Palatine, IL, which is much farther from my home. It is my understanding that I can take my car to any Acura dealership for service. Is there any reason why I shouldn't take my car to McGrath? Is there a chance I'll get substandard service because I did not buy from them?

I took my present car to my closest dealer for the 30K service and they were not only delighted to see me but charged me only $300.00 for the oil change and tire rotation (which is about all they do) while my origional daler wanted $400.00. The difference was because this dealer charges less for a 2WD while my origional dealer charges the same for both 2X4 and 4X4 -- even though most of the service items listed for the 30K service exist only on 4X4s. Service departments are big money-makers for most dealers and calling around can save you a few bucks.

The list of things they do on a 30K service includes inspecting a lot of things but what you actually get that you didn't have when you went in is an oil change and tire rotation -- plus an air filter I forgot to mention. I was waiting on it and got it back in not much more than 30 minutes so I'll let you draw your own conclusions. The service writer did say they had two guys on it. You can do these things yourself if you document them well but I have an extended warranty and figure it's a good move to use a dealer on the 30 and 60.
A bonus was that a tech drove it around the block and made a note on the invoice that the vehicle was in excellent condition. That made me feel better at least.

I live in Nc and bought my 06 tsx in Pa. There is a dealer near me but I was able to get a better price in Pa. I am a former resident of Pa so I was able to visit family and friends when I picked up my new car. Most of the time when I am up in Pa I get my car serviced there but I have also had it serviced by the dealer near me. They have given me excellent service with a very pleasant staff. The first time I took it there the salesperson that waited on me, was nice and congratulated me on the car. He said maybe next time.
I am always told my car is very well maintained. It now has almost 54,000 miles. I follow the maintenance minder. When my dealer does the oil change/tire rotation they also check over the car and test drive it (with my approval)

The closest dealership to your home should be fine for regular maintenance. If you had a couple to choose from I'd call to find out how much each one charges and if any of them offer a loaner while your car is being worked on.
