http://www.westegg.com/inflation/infl.cgi Check it out for yourself, I've done my research it's actually more along the lines of $90,000 but it's close, yup that's how it used to be but now Mercedes-Benz are much cheaper and could care less about quality.

Type in $50,000 that's around what a New E Class (190E is the lowest) cost in 1989. Why are you guy's laughing? it's simple Benz logic... shit, A New W140 (S-Class) in 1992 cost around $75,000 for a base model with NO options and in 2012 that price would be around $120895.40 for a new S-Class, Mercedes has sold out and made the S-Class cheaper and all of it's other cars, and trucks cheaper. Before you had to pay a big sum for a Mercedes-Benz, they were for elegant people, for diplomats, not the average person, for VIP's, now you see a Mercedes Star everywhere. I don't smile when I see the new shitty C-Class because it's so common, when I see a nice older Mercedes-Benz I get so happy. I'm on the forums every day, I'm only 16 but I've gone back in threads 2 years old on the W140 S-Class forums on BenzWorld and some even 4 years back looking at interesting threads, every time I have free time at school I'm on the forums helping people and spreading my oh so little knowledge when compared to older members but it's something.

P.s. I wouldn't buy a new E or S-Class I'd restore the older ones which are worth restoring.

Check out this thread if you want more info on the W140 and scroll to the bottom to see some links: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w140...ddle-east.html

Edit: forgot to mention that the W140 S-Class was competing with Rolls Royces and Bentleys at the time, Mercedes wanted to create the best car in the world, they succeeded and when they started cost cutting they made the Maybach line to keep the title of the Best car in the world.

The leather is super soft, unlike that hard POS fake leather in the last gen 3 and 5 series.
Yeah, in most respects the new F30 328i is a huge upgrade over the TSX, as it should be. However, after testing two of them, I just can't get past the numb steering. The TSX's steering isn't fantastic, but it provides more feedback than the 328i's, and the TSX has a less isolating feel generally. BMW, like many others, is on a learning curve with EPS, so I hope they can refine it for better feel in the F30, which I thought was outstanding otherwise.

My lease is up at the end of May on my 2010 TSX. I'm thinking the TLX will not be out yet by then. I don't think I want to lease another TSX because even though the body style is still very nice it will be 2009 style in a 2013. Lets face it, many other car mfgs have caught up with design and our car blends in more now than it did a few years ago. I'm considering going with an Accord Coupe EXL-V6. The car looks really nice. I don't want to go down from an Acura but don't have much choice in their lineup. Not going with the ILX (AKA Honda Civic on roids) and not going with the TL which was another bust in this current generation. Acura really screwed up this last generation of cars aside from the TSX. The Genesis Coupe is a sweet ride as well. I would like to stay with Acura but they don't have many options until maybe the TLX is available. I think that car will be priced where the TL is now.

Just test drove the new Accord. All I got to say is more interior room, more horse power (test drove the EX-L v6, all leather) more tech with standard package. In my mind, it blows the TSX with what the Accord offers. The back seat is very roomy than the TSX, the Econ feature, standard backup camera and right side camera. Overall it changes my mind about getting the TSX. Now, if the new TLX has the similar features as the new Accord but the looks of the current TSX, it will be a hard decision.

For the hopelessly geeky people out there like me, I believe the TSX is currently the cheapest Honda-family product you can get that still has double wishbone front suspension. The new Accord has switched to struts, and if the TLX is based entirely on that platform, it may likely inherit struts as well. If true, then once the TSX and TL are gone, the only Honda-esque car you can buy with a double wishbone front end will be the RLX. I think the 2013 Crosstour still has double wishbones, but it's also still based on the previous Accord, right?

I know there are many great handling cars out there using struts, blah blah blah... Struts have provided the foundation for countless millions of cars for over 50 years. But as a matter of principle, Honda had something special in their lineup for nearly 30 years, and we're seeing that era end.

I would have to agree with the TSX feels it need a bit of updating. I've test drove 2013 TSX then just last week I test drove 2013 Accord EX-L and if the TLX is going to be on the same platform as the Accord, I think the TLX is going to be an interesting model to come.

When our leases are up I think we are going to look at the RDX and TLX for sure. We have also talked about going back to Subaru. IMHO the more Japanese cars that are built in America, the more they will have quaility issues. I also think gone are the days were you could buy a car made 100% in Japan.

If the quality keeps going down Id rather start looking back at American made vehicles.

BMWs are nice but I would only keep it/lease it for the warranty period.

RIP TSX

You had a great run for 2004-2008, then they fattened you up and put a shiny brace on your face. For shame Honda/Acura.
