2012 Civic Si
So I just learned today that the 2012 Civic Si was unveiled, and it's getting the TSX engine with a 6spd manual option.
Coming from my 2009 6MT TSX, curious to know if you all think this be a good or bad move? I've only driven the older Si models...
I love my TSX now, but a smaller ride with my current engine might be a lot of fun!

It will, without a doubt, be a blast to drive, and despite the fact that many were hoping for something more radical this generation, it will be an awesome car for sure.
You cant go wrong going over to an Si. You might miss the badge but thats the only thing youll be giving up, and the leather seats.
I must also say, I am very jealous of the new Vtec-ometer.

I can tell you I certainly wouldn't miss those leather seats. After 1.5 months and 3,600 miles the leather seats are starting to look like a chain-smoking prostitute's face. No thanks.

ironically i also put my ass on many chain smoking prostitutes faces, so i see how the similarities developed

As much as everyone didn't like the lack of torque in the last Si, I think the 8000rpm redline will be missed.

I'm interested. I live in downtown Philly with a narrow townhouse garage, which makes the wide(ish) TSX a pain at times. (It's three inches wider than my old Saab 9-5, which was considered a large car in its day.) And of course a better power/weight ratio never hurts. To me, steering feel is the big question. If it's no better than the TSX, I'll pass. I hope Honda will focus on this as its EPS systems evolve.
I'd also pass if it's as loud as the current Si. I may have bought one otherwise, but I don't think the screaming engine would be good for family road trips, however great it sounds from my gearhead perspective. The TSX, on the other hand, is an excellent family car IMO.

+1. The TSX is definitely a car that I could "grow into", seeing as though I'm 26, getting married, and possibly kids in the future at some point I'm sure.
Another thing I would hate to lose: HID projector headlights (I didn't see those on the Si spec sheet), not to mention four doors, even though it's a little tight in the back. Having said that, the TSX is probably as big of a car as I want for the foreseeable future.

the civic SI is gonna be mod-tacular when it drops, people will retrofit the shit out of that bitch. Itll have DIY guides in no time. You can also always "lightwerks" your projectors for around 800 bucks
though i agree a stock option woulda been nice. As fun as the SI is, i love the Acura badge and i love the interior too.
bitches sit in civics all the time~
Bitches love sittin in my Acura.

^ so true. Not sure why, but the ladies love the TSX. Every time I mention my ride to a girl, I usually get a response like "OMG I LOVE the TSX...I am OBSESSED..." You don't hear girls saying that about Civics.
Bitches be gettin' wet over the TSX...

people say "women like fast cars"
imo women dont give a fuck about fast cars.
Women like brand names, status, and nice interiors. Bitches will choose getting dropped off in Acura over an EVO IX or an STI WRX any day of the week

If you have an EVO or STi, you'll never have to drop a bitch off
Agree about the name, though. My car's one of the nicer ones in my group of friends, nice interior, leather, decent sound system etc. When I say it's a Honda Accord, most girls give a "meh" reaction, meanwhile a friend is getting all the biddies with his 318i.

Just went to the Honda website here are some new cool features that the Civic has that the TSX could use soon. FM Traffic-Just like XM but no subscription required. From looking at the pictures looks like handsfree link can now finally display the name of the person calling you. I emailed Honda to make sure this is correct.

FM traffic is an awesome feature but since its just getting off the ground coverage is minimal in non urban areas, check out the map:

Why must sports cars always be smiling? It looks like a damn Miata doing that.
Oh and to those "picking up women" with your car, just be aware you'll pick up other things too. Too much? Maybe.. just preference.. I prefer a girl that can hold a conversation as much as anything else.

But seriously, why would anyone want to buy a car that looks like crap just to drop thousands more into trying to make it look good? I bought my TSX only because is was, imo, the best looking car with the best specs that meet my needs that Honda makes. If I never mod it I won't ever feel like it is second-rate. I bought it cause I loved it and if I felt it needed anything else I would have kept looking. Not saying there's no room for improvements, but I am happy with it the way it is in stock form.
Saying that, I would never dream of moving to the SI because it is getting my engine. I already have my engine. Why would I swap? Just sayin.

Maybe hondata will come out with a k-Pro..

That's a huge chunk of aftermarket potential down the drain.
Think it's got those front quarter windows that aren't part of the door.

Header isn't welded to the head, exhaust manifold is cast into the head, just like the engine in the TL.
