2010 TSX V6 vs. 2010 TL
not sure if this has been done yet because i can't search for V6, but why would anyone choose a V6 TSX over a base TL? The price difference is roughly $500, and the only appreciable difference is standard 18's on the TSX vs. 17's on the TL. Weight, interior space, size are all fairly similar.

The 2010 TL is ugly and the TSX is not. The seats in the TSX are more comfortable. It's kind of like, why would you buy an i4 Accord over the Civic Si? Price is about the same. Personal taste.

The one obvious thing are the looks. I personally don't like the look of the TL. The other thing is the size of the car. Not everyone wants a car as big as the TL. Bigger isn't better.
But you're right in that the TL is the better value of the 2.

Personally, I think the TSX looks much better and the TL is too big for me. Also, I need the utility of fold down rear seats, which the TSX has and the TL does not.

The interior styling looks a lot better in the TL (unique Acura look) compared to the TSX (upgraded Accord look). The larger back seat and rear A/C vents are a big plus.
The exterior of the TL with the oversized beak and the rear smiley face is not working for me. The Ron-Jon grill helps the TL. Other than the Acura beak, I like the styling of the TSX better.
Features, I give both cars a tie because they pretty much are the same 90-95% with standard and tech features (maybe a slight nod to the TL).
If I had to really choose between the 2010 TL or 2010 TSX……..
I would go for a used 07/08 RL with the technology package for the same $$. You don’t realize what you missed until it is gone forever.

Like others have said, looks play a very big role in choosing a car. I am 21 years old right now and I just cant see myself driving the new TL. My mom has an 09 TL SHAWD and let me tell you it is awesome to drive, but I would not choose that to be MY car...its appearance is just too "mature" for me. Maybe if I was 30 I would choose the TL but for now I think the TSX suits me perfectly.

Hey, I'm a 20 yr. old college student currently driving a 04SSMTL. Looking to get either the 2010 TL or 2010 TSX. Its hard deciding which, but definately gotta get the Tech package. I like the look of the exterior of the TSX but yet I like the interior of the TL. Which do you guys think is best for the money?

TL's interior did win an award for nicest interior this year...so it is very nice; I reccomend the orange umber color leather.
Oh and sorry if i offended anyone with my earlier remark. I just kinda threw an age in there for the sake of my post...I assume I would like the TL's exterior more if I were 30 but judging by your guys' posts I may not

Why is it that when you add a V6 to an Accord the price jumps ~ $2,300, but when you add a V6 to the TSX the price jumps by $5,000?
It's pretty clear that Acura has marked up the TSX beyond what would be expected in order to make it come close in cost to the base TL, but I have no idea why. All they have done is put a car on their lot that represents an awful value.
If they ever come out with some sort of type-s with special trimmings we can assume that would push it close to $40,000 and that would be absolute insanity.

The TSX with V6 is probably more of an enthusiast's car than the base TL, which I believe has a fairly soft suspension tuned more for luxury. (I read this somewhere, possibly on Edmund's.) I would expect the TSX to have much better handling, even though I've read that the V6 adds more luxury than performance. The real enthusiast's choices are the TSX I-4 with 6MT and TL with SH-AWD.

Burning Brakes
The TL has lost much of the sportiness that made me love the 3G TL, so I would go with the V6 TSX, which is the new 3G replacement in my opinion. The V6 TSX is the only car in Acura's lineup which I would consider. The TL has become an old person car like the Lexus ES.
#17
Although it's worth noting that the 2G TSX was designed for these things all along; an engine bay large enough for a V6, room for AWD and large wheel wells, so they probably planned this from the start, even before they knew the TL would be the Acura's first Edsel.

Three Wheelin'
I disagree, and I found the TL seats to be more comfortable for me. I had one for 3+ days as a loaner while my car was being serviced too so I had ample time to test them out. But of course this will all come down to personal preference.
I like my TSX overall and there are lots of great things about it but if I had to do it over, I'd probably go w/ the TL. And now after owning one buggy, annoying Acura I think I may not even go w/ an Acura at all the next time around. But, we'll see and I can be very forgiving when it comes to them because Honda/Acura has treated me well over the many years, and it would not be wise for me to let one bad apple spoil the whole bunch...

I have a 2008 Acura TL. I prefer the 04-08's over the new tsx and tl. It seems like the seats in the new TL and TSX aren't as nice. The recessed navi is nice though. I would say keep the 04 TL or upgrade to an 07/08 Type S.

2010 TL AWD 6MT: New King
But I disagree the TL is "an old person car", esp the 6MT version. The TL SH-AWD 6MT is anything but. It's an excellent, solid, and roomy all around sports sedan with one of the finest manual transmission available. The 6MT is tuned for "sporty driving" (ie. short throw shifts, suspension, steering, weight ratio, etc).

Having driven both, I brought home a TSX V6. I liked the driving experience much better - it's wonderfully comfortable, but with sporty cues in its handling and steering feel.
The V6 is pleasantly potent, and produces more than enough power for my wife (who's the daily driver of this car). The technology available with the Tech Package is great, and rounds out an already provocative car.
Driving the TL was much less exciting, and while the car is nice, it wasn't NICER enough for us to consider. Neither of us liked the looks of the new TL either, as the styling is just a little bit too over the top for our tastes.
TSX V6 and MDX rule the house here.

I have a 2010 TL AWD and it is night and day different than the base TL. The AWD does wonders for that car and handles back roads and on/off ramps like its on rails. Very sporty and the J37A4 engine is on Wards 10 best to boot.
Why would I choose the TL over TSX? Simple, the sound system in the TL Tech is by far the best system to date. I recently did a camparo between the Lexus Mark Levinson, BMW Harmon Kardon Logic 7 and Acura ELS system and the ELS system is by far heads and shoulders over any of those systems. The only sound system that is superior in my opinion right now is in the new Jaguars but I would not own one because of reliability issues otherwise I'd be driving one.

I'm not questioning you, just wondering because this is your justification for choosing a TL over TSX.

If the TSX did come with the ELS system, I still would be in the TL as the interior of the TL is much luxurious than the TSX. People on this forum would choose a G37 over a TSX(from the other thread) while the same comparison in the TL section has the majority picking the TL over the TSX. They are right, that is how far the TL and the TSX are in terms of refinement and luxury. My opinion and YMMV

Correction: I believe they do have ELS system now in the 2010's but I have not heard it. I had driven the 2009 TSX which did not have the V6.
Edit: Just checked the Acura website and it has 10 speakers at 415 watts. I don't know what difference it makes but regardless, I find the TL more of a luxury.

After driving both on 3 trial runs, we bought a TSX V6. The TL is an ugly car (exterior) and was not sporty enough - we traded in our 325i in the deal. We test drove many cars from Audi to Lexus to Infinity and the TSX was the winner.

TSX-V6 by far. every time i head to the dealership for service i check out both cars again and again cause i could not decide either and yet i still choose my TSX. the outside of the TL just isnt what it used to be.

I'm of the opinion that if you paint the TL's grill, get tint and less conservative wheels the car looks pretty hot. It looks like what started out as a good idea, that was eventually ruined by a fleet grill and focus groups.

I am with shift ACura..
I am with shift ACURA, The I4 TSX is a GREAT bang for the buck but for the 5-6K more the v6 DOES NOT make sense.. I was shopping a G37X vs the TSX I4 and the ONLY reason i Leased the TSX is cuz it was $85 less a month compared the the G37X w/premium pkg and it was a 30 month lease as apposed to a 39 month lease. I am in the middle of closing on my first home and getting married so that $85 a month will come in handy. When I drove the v6 TSX it did not seem like it was that much quicker then the I4.
Dont get me wrong it is faster but I am not racing no one..
There are GREAT deals to be had on 2009 G 37x , and when you compare it to the TL or tsx u will see its alot better value for the buck.
1) 328 HP vs. 280
2) 7 speed tranny vs 5 speed
3) AWD vs FWD
If u are in the tri state area I can hook u up with a G..
If u wanna stay with acura save yourself some loot and get the i4 TSX or spend the extra loot and go sh-AWD for the TL!

You can get the 18" SH-AWD wheel/tire combo on the base TL/Tech, so that definitely improves the look of the TL. I have the TL-SH-AWD, and only drove the TSX 4 banger. In comparison, the ride on the TSX felt less stable than either the fwd or the awd TL. It felt lighter and more nimble, but relative to the TL it felt like it could get out from under you more easily than either the fwd or awd tl. The sh-awd TL is awesome. I would expect the v6 TSX to feel as quick or a little quicker than the fwd TL, but I would be concerned about torque steer on the V6 tsx. Net net, if you like the size of the TL, get an awd version, if you like the smaller size but don't want to sacrifice smoothness and power of the v6, get the TSX. If you want something smaller that handles reasonably well, but don't care about the power, get the TSX 4 banger.
