Would the tires for a 2000 TL fit on a 2002 TLS?

I have 4 tires that are 16 inches on a 2000 TL, Would this fit on a 2002 TLS? The 2002 TLS has 17 inches.

Thanks,

The mere fact that one is 16" and one is 17" should have answered your question. But No, they wont.

^^ Kris already answered your question. Obviously a 17" rim is larger in diameter than a 16" rim. Therefore, you can not put a tire made to fit a 16" rim on a 17" rim. Put simply, the actual hole in a 16" tire is physically too small to accomodate a 17" rim.

I think that some people are understanding the question and some are not. I believe the OP is asking if a TIRE meant to fit a 16" rim will fit on a 17" RIM.

This being said, Kris already answered your question. Obviously a 17" rim is larger in diameter than a 16" rim. Simply put, the actual hole in a 16" tire is physically too small to accomodate a 17" rim. So NO a tire for a 16" rim will NOT fit on a 17" rim.

I think that some people are understanding the question and some are not. Most people are interpreting the question as, "Will a 16" wheel and tire set fit on a 2003 TL-S". But I think that what the OP is asking is if a TIRE meant to fit a 16" rim will fit on a 17" RIM.

from 16 to 17 the speedo isn't really going to be that much off. The best thing to do is go online and do some research on the tires that you have. The speedo error is based on tire overall diameter of the tire, but most likely its like a small insignificant difference speedo error, lets say your going 68 but you really doing 66.5

Why would you put 16s on your car?

And no the speedo wont be off. That is the stock size. Type-s had 17s as a Plus size upgrade. No there is no way to adjust it.

Because the 16s are pretty new tires. I just bought the 2002 TLS, tires are making loud noise

I agree. I had 16s (non Type S) with the stock size as Fall/Winter combo on my TL-S. I didnt like the cornering ability. I've since put the stock 17s (chrome CL-S) wheels and tires on for Spring.

Keep the 16s if you live in a northern climate and require snow tires.

Unless you drive like a grandma, the 17s will outhandle the 16s in cornering, all things being equivalent. I wouldn't keep the 16s on any longer unless your budget doesn't allow you to replace the existing 17s on the stock rims.
