Why do stock TL-S rims cost so much?
I was curious to see if anyone had an inside scoop on why TL Type - S rims cost so freakin much?! I cracked one of my rims from hitting a rock and during my search to find a replacement, I found that they cost around $200-250 online, sometimes that much for remanufactured! They look nice for stock, and fit the car well IMO, but for 17x6.5 pizza cutters? If anyone can let me know why they cost so much i.e. super lightweight wheels, Enkei no longer manufactures them etc., I'd appreciate it. I just need to justify buying a replacement rim for that much or just pay an extra $300-500 for a set cheap VSR or ADR rims. Although I've heard stories about those cheap ebay rims being junk.

They cost that much because that's what the market price is.
OEM wheels are very reliable. They are hard to bend or crack and the car was built to ride on those wheels. So in other words, they are basically the best and most optimal wheels for the car. That's why OEM wheels, especially performance-oriented Type-S, still cost quite a bit.
Buy cheap wheels to replace them, and you will end up bending them or cracking them and replacing them again, so on and so forth.. I love my Enkeis, but I've bent them. I never had that problem with the OEM wheels.

As for their prices, that's about right.

Hey guys,
My dealer was willing to sell me the brand new Type-S wheels at $133 each. He said this was basically their cost, and it is a special price because I am a "regular customer". He says prices are coming down monthly as 2nd gen gets older. Check your dealers !!!

They DEFINITELY still make those rims because of their use on the Accord 6speeds now (both coupe and sedan).

Have you ever looked on ebay? I just recently bought a 2001 TL and all 4 wheels had bad curb rash. I came across an auction for 4 wheels that were boxed when the car was bought new and I won the auction for $218 plus $85 shipping. (check out ebay item # 8067461974). I think they went so cheap because the seller was new to ebay and had zero feedback. It was a steal for sure and look great !! Try eBay!

Check out this item on Ebay (item # 110003690555). If you were to buy 4 wheels, even at the "Buy it now" price, it would come out to $165 per wheel (incl. shipping). You'll just need your existing Acura center caps to replace the Honda caps.
Hey Maxxboy, you got a good price on yours, but yours are the EOM 16" wheels, not the 17" Type-S wheels.
