Where can I find Strut Cap/hats?
I'm going to need new strut cap/hats and was wondering where I could find it. The cheaper the better, but no sh** quality items. And if I have to buy from OEM, what's the part number? Because I can't find it.
Thanks in advanced.

well can't remember who, but someone told me to replace them, because my top hats had 119xxx miles of use on it. So with lowering springs and aftermarket shocks, its "preferable" to change them out, saving you time and money vs using stock ones and they give out on you, damaging other things that may cost more to repair and is pretty time consuming.

How do you change a top hat? Do you have to remove the entire strut assembly? I have my car lowered on Tanabe NF210's, so mild drop, can I use OEM top hats and if so what's the part# and is there anything else I would need to get?

rofl. To tell you the truth, I have no idea.. When I do get time to install my tokico illumina's/H R sport springs, I'm going to actually take apart the assembly I have on my car now to see what I'm missing..
I think I basically have to reuse everything on the strut except the shock/top hat/springs.. I.E. shock cover and some washers I think. But other else than that I can't tell you much lol, just gotta wait for someone with knowledge to chime in.
P.S. oh yeah answering sbuswell's question, I'd just go with the link posted up top for heeltoe, they may take a while, but they get you the whole assembly that is needed, rather than buying it part by part on the acureoem site, risking that you might leave something out. (it only saves you about 15-30 bucks, but hey). Thing is, heeltoe takes a while.. Mine is coming at the end of the week.. (17 day delivery FTL)

reason to replace tophats: You bought Tein or similar coilovers and want to keep the stock struts as complete units,,in case you ever need to put the car back stock or are selling it and want to keep the good shocks
Having new tophats lets you assemble the new shocks and do a straight strut assembly swap out. Lower the old unit out- slide the new strut in and bolt it up- done!
Otherwise you need a spring compressor tool ,,, and nerves of steel- and good health insurance in case you lose 2 front teeth or take an escaping spring to the ribs--though its usually the bystander who gets hit with the spring~
Mst compress the spring to release tension on top nut- that goes on the shock- the tophat and everything else is held on by that washer and nut.
Most dont need new hats- at 119k miles it wont hurt, but if it means waiting 3 weeks -dont worry- use the old stuff. The rubbers should be fine- put a little silicone spray where the spring contacts the rubber if you want to
Honda dealer or acura dealer can order them for you. Its not usually an `in stock` item at the local warehouse- has to come from the other side of the country- or japan~
if that gives you a hint on need to replace them----not frequently occuring

well reason I bought them is because (don't know if they're supposed to be like that, I didn't notice to check the other one) was because one of the top hat seemed bent on the bottom of the curverture on the shock side.. My friend said it's supposed to be like that, but I was too lazy to unbolt the other one to see side by side.
