unseizing coilovers

unseizing coilovers

wassup, anyone got some tricks to unseize coilovers? so far for this week i been spraying pb blaster on each strut, and plan on going to my mech on weds to get it lowered.....has anyone ver put a torch to the strut be4? safe? or is it ok but just dont keep it near the strut too long....any tips appreciated thanks

Mine were seized 2 years ago, my mechanic put a torch on the perches and a couple mins after they were free. make sure not to heat up one area for too long, use strokes just like when you're painting.

I have a feeling mine are seized up this season...

are you referring to the heigh adjustments being seized?

that happened to mine and my shop said they couldnt free them up. they said they would ahve to saw the perches off and put on new ones.

i said screw that and am leaving it at the height it is...

I would remove the coilover assembly from the car and put a set of spring compressors on the coils to relieve the pressure on the adjustment nuts (or whatever they're called).
