tire/wheel help

so after 75k on the stock rims, the time has come, new rim time, i decided it was time after realizing how much damage the rims have and i am tired of paying for 17/225 tires which are more then 18/225 somehow. My ? is i have the comptech drop springs and i want to put 18 in rims on. will this work or no, and what size tire could i go up to, can i use a 235 or should i stay with 225's/ also has anyone who has the comptech drop done a rim/tire package???? any recomindations, also where is the best place to get the tires/wheels, want to get crome lookn to spend around 1500 with tires +/- 200. thanks for the help

235/40/18 is closer in circumference than 225/40/18 to OEM Type-S tires (215/50/17). It can be done on a CT drop (which CT springs -- silver or black?), provided you have the right offset for your rims. As a rule of thumb, if you go 7.5" width rim, you'll need a +45 offset or greater to minimize risk of 'rubbing'. Others have 'rolled fenders' when their offset isn't high enough or have gone with wider rims (not that expensive to get a body shop to do)

For instance, I run 235/40/18 on 18x7.5" rims with +45 offset and I've rubbed maybe a handful of times with 3 big people in the back of my car (I don't have a sound system).

Good luck on where to buy chrome rims ... I've never looked for them. But you can always check out the black market on this website to find someone parting with their rims/tires.

The offset is hard for me to describe ... if you did a search on ... I just know that for 7.5" rim, you'll need about +45mm offset or greater to ensure you won't 'rub'. The offset is usually stamped on the inward side of rim, along with some other aspects.

Someone else please describe offset? (I'm too lazy to look it up exactly)
