Question Tire size question

I'm replacing some Brigdestone Traction touring tires, and I found a really good deal on some Bridgestone Potenzas. Can I run a 205/55 on a Stock 2001 TL wheel?

I don't know much about tire and wheel sizing so I need to ask on here.

Thanks.

They are the same width rims. its a wider tire to help with the overall aspect ratio (going from 16 to 17" rim) to keep the overall dia the same. That and for better performance.

so would a 205 tire on the S rims would look slightly stretched inward?

i would think if the width was the same, no matter what size (tall) the rims were.. the tire width would stay the same.. this just throws me all off

The rims are the same size width wise (6.5"). So putting on a 205 wont stretch the tire.

oh, i get that.. i was wondering why acura would put a wider tire on the 17x6.5 and smaller tire on 16x6.5 from the factory

if handling is the case.. then they just tossed the TL-P people a bag of poop

Think of it the other way around. If you have the base model, it is what it is. If you have the type-s, then you paid for certain upgrades. Unless you're lucky, upgrades don't come free...

i have yet to see them side by side, but what im concerned with is, my TL-P rims have 205/60/16.. and the tire sits perfectly flush with the wheel.. leaving no bubble effect... the shop i get wheels from normally fits all my rims with the right size tires for this look. but in my recent case.. i bought a 215/50/17 for the type S wheels (per dealer's info) i got for DD's and im worried that they will overlap the wheel a little bit seeing how the 205 sit perfect along with my other wheels..., i hate bubble tires and might have to send the whole set back.
