Tire size?

Im new on the forums and I searched around but could not find a thread about tires. I have a 03 Tl-s and I want to put fatter tires on my stock 17's. Will 245/40/R17 fit on the back and like 225/40/R17 in the front, without any rubbing?

Keep the same size tires all the way around.

245 on a 6.5" wide wheel? Never seen that...

I'd personally keep it closer to stock size if you're using stock wheels

in general on the TL when one is lowering it -

225 will clear in the rear without issue- any wider and you have to cut the fender tabs---run your hand along the fender edge and the issue will become clear...
caution for bleeding!!!!!!!

ask a tire shop what will fit on your rims- at a certain point its just too wide for the rim
and no amount of trying will even get them on~

you can more then likely get a 245 on to the stock rim, but not a very good idea and not advisable, you are going to wear out the center like no other on it, and you proably won't even be able to get the full tread to even contact the pavement

now 225 all the way around would proably not be too much a problem though, they are only 10mm oversized then stock width

and yes keep the same size all the way around the car, then you can at least rotate them, and help even out the wear on them

its much cheaper and effective to stay 215 or 225. Now if your going with a custom wheel then you will have to do some research.

225/55/16's will work fine and they look a lot better IMO than the skinny 205's a TL-P comes stock with. I know TL-S come stock with I believe 215/50/17's I believe so not sure if you'd want to go 225/50/17 or 225/45/17. Probably 225/45/17 to keep the rolling diameter close to the same. You don't want a speedo that's not reading right.

Agree. Do not slap on a 245 tire on factory rims. Rim is not wide enough to safely install a 245 width tire.

Moved to appropriate forum.

225/50/17 is actually closer to stock diameter than 225/45/17, but looks-wise I'd go with 225/45/17
