tire direction?

My new Yoko's have arrows showing which direction the tires should turn. The OEM Michelin's do have have an arrow that I can locate.

When I rotate the Michelin's, how do I know which direction the tires ought to rotate?

Or is this requirement for turning tires just for certain types of tires?

TIA.

Only uni-directional tires require one-way rotation.

Most other tires, such as the OEM Michelin, can face either way. If you notice the tread pattern, you will see that half is facing one way, and the other side is facing the other way.

What kind of Yokohama tires do you have?

This is a Toyo T1-S. See how the tread design is facing one way, designed to evacuate the water? You can actually see the arrows on the sidewall, too.

Now look at a non-directional tire. This is a Kumho ASX. Each side is facing the other way.

A uni-directional tire that's facing the wrong way cannot provide adequate handling, water-channeling capability or stability.

So if I wanted to rotated the tires on the Yoko V4's then I ought to have 2 of the tires taken off the rims and turned around if I do the X rotation method? Otherwise, 2 tires will be spinning the wrong direction...

Um yeah you could do that. But why?

Just rotate front to back on the same side.

just dont do teh X pattern rotate. Just swap the fronts to the rear and the rear to the front on the same side.

not sure on your tires but also make sure besides being directional they are not left or right side specific

Most directional tires I've shopped for are neither left nor right-side specific. I think the real high-end max-summer performance ones are side specific.

Okay...front to back it shall be. I saw that the preferred method was to do the modified X (from other posts). But front to back is infinitely easier.
