Tein SS settings

I am going to get my Tein SS coilovers installed this weekend. What setting should my height and dampening level be at for the best overall performance?

Thanks

A call to acurazine sponsoring vendor Mr HeelToe
will yield a good starter setup for your shocks

He does what he terms "remote pre-sets" on units he ships fully assembled from the shop,
based on 3 years of close relationship with TEIN and lots of experience installing in his shop on street and race cars.

Call him Pacific time zone 1-949-295-1668

Even if you bought somewhere else, he will help you out

Good luck!

He runs a shop and its easiest to call him at 1-949-295-1668 pacific time zone

not always sitting on the computer

He may only need to say, 3 inches measured from this point to the perch is 1 inch drop and setting 5 on the shocks is like stock

he's pretty quick on responses on a-zine.. at least he was with me, and all i wanted to purchase was a $15 piece

good guy/good shop/good service

on a side note, my ss's are all the way to the bottom, at a semi-stiff setting. but im surely not saying it's the best for performance, i just like how it looks

I have my rears set at 7 and the fronts at 8. It's a pretty comfortable ride while improving performance over stock.

I have to say though, installing this was a major bietch!!!! I'm glad it's over.

MAKE SURE YOU TEST THE PERFORMANCE BEFORE PUTTING THE BACK SEATS BACK IN. ONCE THEIR IN, I WOULDN'T WANT TO REMOVE ALL OF IT AGAIN....EVER!!

good luck to you!

I paid $700 for a brand new set.
I lowered it 1"
I had it down 1.5" but found it a little low for me. I ended up scraping a lot on the roads in my area.

Hope this helps.

Next I'm thinking of swamping the lights for the 07 Type S!

Damn were did you get it for 700 bucks? Thats a hell of a deal!!!! I also thought about upgrading to a 3rd Gen but with the amount owed on my TL it would not be a smart decision.

I want to do some deals too, can I get a discount too? I dont' know who to go with really on Tein SS. ONe is asking for $900 and another $899. Tough choice, don't want to upset anyone of them. I am sure both of them are good guys and know a lot....do you guys have a preference on who to buy from, excelerate or mr heeltoe???

both are good guys to deal with, if your on the east coast go with excelerate and west coast heel toe for quickest shipping, or do whatever you want, toss a coin

Thats basically it- west coast MrHeelToe- because he is local to the TEIN warehouseand in LA, if he doesnt have what you need in his store stock, runs over and picks up a fresh one from the warehouse.

East coast- if Excllerate has in stock and can ship right away- good deal-
both places essentially same price and offer good service

I have not talked to Excl, but HeelToe totally helped me out on set-up questions and fast phone advice

Support our sponsoring vendors- cant go wrong with either- its all about shipping time and cost- based on where you live

PM both for any specials they cannot list the price of online

I set my dampening level to 8. Kind of weird, i have this clunking noise on my rears now. Happens on almost every bump. Did a search and it looks like a few people has had this issue, does anyone know of a fix for this?

Make shock setting softer- that is what the adjustment is all about!

Since you just stiffened up the back that would be the first place to look.
Then check all the rubber stops are in place, the sway bar is not hitting anything
Recheck your installation for tight bolts and any wear marks from when it makes noise

Good Luck

I agree. Check the bump stops and sleeves. I heard from TEIN that if the sleeves aren't on correctly, they make noises! If that's the case, have fun pulling your car apart to fix it!

Well damn that sucks, I pay people good money and they dont even install it right. That shit pisses me off. But other than the sound the ride is great couldnt ask for anything more except maybe an easier way to adjust the rear. I dont like having to take the damn rear seat off every single time!!!

Yep...it stinks. That's why I left the entire back seat out until I finished adjusting the setting to my liking. For the front, did you drill a hole above the tower for access? That's what I did.

As for the bump stops...you really need to be familar to get it right the first time. I had an exceptional engineer closely associated with the manufacturer install for me.

Good luck!

Oh crap the bump stops could be what is causing this issue. The installer told me that the bump stops from the Teins were damaged so they used the bump stops from the TL.

That's ridiculous. Get your money back and don't pay for the labor!! Unless you approved this before he was installing.

Yea I already approved it. I didnt think that would cause any issues since all it does is protect your shocks when bottoming out. I am going to contact them to see what the best solution is. Could this really be causing that issue?
