It is 4 very small electric motors that bolt on the top of the shock where the adjustment for dampening/rebound pressure is adjusted
Normally there are 16 settings/clicks on the Tein shock- but the fine control of the motors allows 32 positions
On the control unit- you can set the fronts and rears and different stiffness, then program in your 3 favorite combos of softer rear- stiffer front or the other way, or wife, freeway, track day !
Can also be adjusted on the fly- fronts together and or rear together but not each shock seperate

that is done manually by removing tension from the spring and loosening the adjuster lock nut that holds the lower spring perch in place=height
then you raise or lower the spring and rest the locknut
you would need airbag suspension to do anything else
