Should I dump teins for cheap coilovers?

I have a 2000 TL-P with tokico illuminas and Tein H-tech springs. They teins didn't do for me exactly what I'd hoped they would. I want more adjustability without paying $700+ like for Tein Basics. I know most of you would say "avoid the spring/sleeve coilovers", but are they really that bad? Couldn't I shell out a few bills for some Ground Control or Skunk2s and be alright? Thanks for the input.

On a luxury car like a TL i would say no! depends on how much you are going to drop it, but chances are if ur want to go with coilovers then u want to drop it pretty low. Once those stock shocks go, ur not gonna like the ride, cant do it to a TL. If i had another car i would think about it , my friends civic hatch has a real harsh ride due to him slamming his car with coilover sleeves on stock shocks. i dont really mind it, because that car is like a str8 up race car. In conclusion, dont do it to a luxury car, ur going to hate it.

I don't intend to lower my car much at all. I really can't because of the offset of my rims (I have the 3rd gen rims on my 2nd gen). I just want a comfy ride with adjustability so that I can erase that ugly 4-wheel drive look. I figured coilovers would be the best way to lower my car - even the slightest bit - to the exact specs to make it look just right.

coilovers are the best way to go. If you do decide to go with the coilovers don't drop it too low. Just drop it to kill that 4x4 gap and then leave enough space so that you will have some travel with the wheels if you dip in a bump.
