Question Replacing OEM tires on 2002 3.2 TL

I would like to get the Yoko Avid H4s/V4s. Rim is stock 205/60/16 91V

If I keep that size tire it looks like I can only get the H4s (91H)
If I upgrade to say 225/55/16 I can get the V4s (94V)

What is difference really between H and V? (Just the speed at which my wife can cruise the 3 year old around in?) Is there a handling difference? Speedo should not be too far off with the 225 from what I have read.

Are there any PROs/CONs to either type/size? I wish to either match or improve the stock tire - would not want to take a step backwards - no one needs an angry wife

Thanks guys. I did a Search, but did not see my exact question answered.

Unless you frequent speeds over 120 you dont need to worry about the speed rating.

The wider the tire the better dry grip but a narrower tire is better in snow. (ive never had a problem with the 225 in the winters here) The 91 94 ect is a load range for the tire.

Search the tire rack for tires in the sizes you want. Read teh Customer reviews on the tires.

Nah - I am sure she keeps it to 110 or less

So the 225 will fit the stock rim etc? I just don't want to cause myself any probs.

Thanks

I am probably going with the Yokohama TRZs. They seem to get good feedback.

I see Consumer Reports (what timing - just came in yesterday) is really high on the GoodYear Assuarance TripleTred. My father-in-law has them on both of his Lexus(s), but the other day he said something about at high speed it felt a little weird - so I am not too excited about that. I just do not like the look of the tread pattern - I think it is an ugly tire.

Anybody have these on?

The main difference between H and V rating: is that V rated tire has stiffer sidewall for better response and a bit softer rubber for better grip (that is why V rated tire has lower mileage warranty). H rated tire gives you “better” ride, softer and quieter. Don’t count on having BIG difference in every category, it’s not.

So am I better off getting the exact replacement size of 205 or is it better to increase to a 225? I do not have ANY experience with changing tire sizes.

Just want to make the right decision here.

Thanks everyone.

On my 03 TLS, I have the Yoks Avid V4s and they are an excellent tire. Have had them on for 2 years now and have never had a problem in any weather condition in central jersey.

If you're worried about the 225's being too wide for the stock rim, stick with the stock tire size. I'm sure the H4s are as good a tire as the V4s in terms of quality.

Hey, these are "cool" looking tires! A teenage kid told my wife so. We have them on the Odyssey van and we are very pleased with them. They have handled all kinds of weather conditions. I do not think they are very loud.

I know, it is a van, but it can still kick some a$$. 240 hp with vtec! Handling is way improved over stock tires. Highest speed was 95 and they were solid. doubtful we would ever get faster than that.

Hope this helps!

OEM 16" rims are 5.5" wide. 225/55/16 is probably too wide to fit properly (recommended widths 6-8"). Why don't you get the H4S 'cause you're probably not going to get "that" much more performance out of the V4S.
