What are the specs? What is the Temp, Traction, and Treadwear rating of the tire you replaced it with? What Model Cooper also? Only then can we assist you.

Check out the Goodyear Triple Treds (All-season). Bada$$ design with an 80k treadlife . A lot cheaper than Michelin:

I just put on some Yokohama Avid H4s's. A nice, smooth, low-priced tire, but I think the sidewalls are a little soft:

Another tire I considered were the Bridgestone Potenza G009's. Same price as the Yoko's, but lower treadlife spec. :

I don't know much about Cooper tires, but just about anything is cheaper (and maybe even better) than Michelin's.
I suggest you print out any online quotes and have the local dealers beat the price.

Interesting that the Yoko sidewalls are a little soft. They are 93V load rating which is the same as the stock Michelins. Those are the only two tires that at a 93 load rating. The rest are 91 but no one on the forum has reported any problem using a lower load rating tire.

The Yoko H4s's are H-rated, while the V4s's are V-rated (and cost a bit more). A possible reason no one has reported problems with lower load rated tires is that they probably died after the blowout If you don't push past 110mph regularly, I don't think you'd know the diffrernce between the two.

Another option is getting tires from reputable dealers on eBay. I just saved over $350 on a set of 4 tires for my SUV from a dealer on eBay. The problem there is finding the right size and model tire. I got lucky by being in the right place at the right time.

Most people in the forum don't recommend Michelin, IMO Falken Ziex's are the best in all aspects. Especially on wet/puddled roads.

i purchased Cooper Lifeliner.
225/55/17
V rated.

these are great tires.

i had bridgestone potenzas..Z rated..they were rocks..
the car rattled like a piece of crap.
i thought it was the lowering springs.

i put these COOPER's on...and she rides beautifully.
IMO stay away from Z rated.

Kumho ASX

I got the Kumho ASX, and I love them. They are much quieter, with a better grip and better looking :-) I would never get Michelins, at that price it is a total rip-off.

Kumho offers greatest bang for the buck.
