Function/Form Type1

What is the minimum lowest drop height with the Function/Form Type 1 coilovers? Their website says they aim for 1-2.5" or more. I read alot of threads that says its up to 4+ inches and you can lay your frame etc...
One shop I called says its a 1.5" minimum. Hopefully someone here will have a definite answer.

Im looking into a new set of springs and shocks. A drop more than an inch is more than i'd want. The KYB GR2 shocks and H&R OE springs would run me about $520 shipped. For about $30 more I can have the FF setup which should be an easier install as its probably just a bolt off old assembly then bolt on new coilovers. Not to mention alot of the good reviews on the FF from what i've read here.

Coilovers are wayyyyyyyy easier to install than spring/shock combos. But you pay with ride quality. If you are looking for a smooth ride, go for spring/shock combo. FF1 will drop you at least 4 inches. You can lay the frame on the ground (undriveable though)..

A strut/spring combo will be wayyyyyy better for you then the FF. Your car will thank you with better ride quality and awesome handling. If thats your price range I would go with the Tokico HP struts over the KYB. They're $340 shipped on Ebay. Tanabe makes great prodcuts and they have a $215 set of springs that lower just over an inch in the front and a half in in the rear. It would be worth renting the free spring compressor and spending the extra hour or two swapping top hats and cutting the bump stops. If you're dead set on the FF I understand, I have a set on the way just because I want to be low but performance wise and longevity there are much better options!

Now i'll have to look into the Tokico's setup with the H&R OE springs. I'll probably end up buying new pieces like the bump stops, bolts and whatever else i'll need. That'll add about $40 more per shock but it'll save me the trouble of having to deal with the old stuff and taking things apart.
Thanks for the complement. My Bi-Xenon low beams are baddass. That I have to admit. The new setup next month will be better. It's nice to light up every lane on the highway and have more distance than I really need all without blinding anyone. Other than the projector retrofit, it's completely stock outside. All im putting on it are mileage and that is why I dont want to go too low.

H&R is high quality, I ran them on on my old Tokico adjustables and they were great. The Tokicos should have a lifetime warranty as long as you keep the drop under 1.5....if you wreck and bend one you can find single replacements no problem for $75.

You'll find that there are suspension packages sold by Tokico that include H&R springs, they work well together and the Tokicos will be stiffer than stock without being too harsh. My sister drove a civic dropped almost 3 inches on sprint springs with Tokico Hp struts for 150k until she sold it to my buddy who drove t until it was stolen.....the car still handled like it was on rails after almost 160k on those struts, no leaks, nothing. My oem bump stops crumbled in my hands at 190k....so your idea is probably a good one! Everything else should be fine though.

A little bit stiffer I dont mind but because I drive so much with this car I really need a comfortable ride. I just feel it's time for new springs so I figured why not do a small drop while im at it. I'll drive through all types of road conditions from twisty back roads to city driving. I can't have a car too low because of that. Everytime im driving through a twisty, winding back road somewhere, I always wish for a sportier setup just to have a little fun in my commutes. I am sure the handling will be improved with the H&R/Tokicos setup. I just have to look into how much the H&R springs will really lower me. They say .75 and .5 inches but im thinking more along the lines of 1 and .75 inches.

Thicker sway bars will help with the twisties as well if you haven't upgraded already.

Yeah they will! I just put a rear on a few days back....only problem is i cant stop driving fast around every open bend I find.....my gas gauge is putting in major work. Need the front though, still leans a bit. Im dropped 2.1/1.7 with a lip and I drive like an asshole and I have never scraped or hit anything. a one inch drop should be fine. The KYB may give you a slightly softer ride but they are an inferior shock IMO. If you are willing so spend a bit more, the Tokico Illuminas are adjustable, so you can choose how stiff you ride with knobs on the top. I had them on my accord and they were amazing. I could set them at 1 for long trips and it would rider smoother than stock, or set them at 5 and be super stiff. Great product but a bit expensive at $400-$500. Well worth it though. Ran H&R with that setup.

are you looking at the springs for the 98-02 accord? H&R shouldn't sag, but I was told by a member on here that the accord setup will drop you a tiny bit more.

another more expensive option for $800 shipped is these. 0.25-2 inch adjustable.

I've never really trusted the lowering height specs of the spring manufacturers. Everyone i've talked too who has lowered their cars has always said "it's a little lower than claimed" It could be from spring sag over time but I just feel the drop will be a little more than what is claimed.
I'll look into the Illuminas when I can. It would be nice to have an adjustable shock but more than likely i'll leave it at the softest setting.
The Tanabe's look great but pushing that much money for a suspension i'll never use to it's full potential would be a waste for me. Then again Tokico shock, HR springs and OEM top hat, bushing and bumpstops would run me the same.
Are you a salesmen? Just kidding. Any other suggestions is greatly appreciated.
