i have a real dilema. i dont know what to do first. should i lower my car then get rims or should i get rims first then lower it? i have a 2002 tl(non-s) that has factory rims and suspension.

as for the suspension, could you guys help me out and give me some suggestions. i dont want a huge drop because i really want to keep the ride quality close to stock. i am thinking about a 1" maximum drop. the only thing is i have no idea where to begin, what to look for or what brands are good. should i get coil overs, new springs, new shocks...i have no clue?

as for the rims, i really want 18" black or gun metal finish with a crome or polished lip. i've seen the icon w65( http://www.autotoyaz.com/cuswheelicw63.html ) which i like but can you guys give me any other suggestions. also i need to know what will fit without doing any modifications ie.shaving fenders.

thanks

drop first, nothing looks worse than a tl with rims and no drop. a tl w/ a drop and no rims can still look nice. it will just look unfinished for a while. good luck.

Drop first. Then, you can play around with diff wheel/tire combos. If you do wheels first, then you are stuck with them. You may even like your car with just the drop alone and no new wheels.

i would do both at (about) the same time. otherwise, which look would you prefer? 1) lifted car on nice wheels? 2) lowered on stocks? well, you are supposed to keep in mind the stock OVERALL DIAMETER when you choose bigger rims and tires. as such, the existing gap on the stock car and the desired amount of lowering will not change and apply to both setups. either way, you can't go wrong. but definitely make sure you get the appropriate wheel widths, wheel offset and tire size.

yeah definitly go w/the drop 1st. i went the long way and got rims first. they do make the car look better but it also makes the wheels look smaller w/out the drop. im working on it.

ps: when u do get rims get universal fit, so if u dont like them u can sell them a little easier

ok, drop it is. thanks guys.
now the question is, how do i drop it? i want to drop it no more than 1". the main thing for me is to maintain a comfortable ride. how do i go about doing this? what brand to i go with? do i get coilovers, shocks, springs...?

If you want that small of a drop, get the H&R OE Springs. My suggestion, I had the OE springs and the drop was decent with my old 18's, but when I downgraded to 17's the gap was too much for me. I switched to Tein H-Tech springs and it dropped the car an additional .25 inches. It gave me a drop without it being too dramatic. As for shocks, I got Tokico Blue Shocks and the ride is pretty good. Keep in mind, no matter what you do, if you go aftermarket, you will lose some of the comfort level compared to the stock setup.
