18x9 +40 work on a 2003 TL Type S, 225/40/18, lowered ~2", rolled fenders/relocated rear tabs, -2 rear camber? My current set up (19x8.5 +35, 225/35/19) doesn't rub at all, I'm hoping this new set up won't as well but I'm concerned about inner suspension clearance. Thanks again.

Test fitted a wheel today on the front, cleared the suspension but not the brake caliper

For a 18x9 +40 square set up, you will need spacers to clear the front brake calipers and for the rear to give it enough clearance for the center caps to stay on. For now, decided on 3G stock wheels. The car is dropped on Eibach Pro-kit springs.

White wheels are custom ESM004. Previous set-up (hyperblack) was 19x8.5" +35 square (225/35/19, -2 rear camber, rolled fenders, cut bumper tabs, NO RUB even with weight in the trunk/passengers).

Current set-up is on 3G TL base wheels 17x8", 235/45/17 tires.

Older set up- XXR 530 18x8.75 +20 Hyperblack, 225/40/18. Fit the front but still had poke, natural camber was at -1. The rear was nonstop rubbing at -2 camber, rolled fenders and cut bumper tabs (need more negative camber, possibly narrower tire). Too aggressive in my opinion, since I daily drive the car.

Rims: 18x8, 50, 5x114.3, 72.6
Tires: 235/45R18 98W

Will these Enkei Fujin' fit on 2000 TL?
Everything is stock, and I don't want to do any mods.

Winter wheels '07 TSX wheels?

Looking for a set of wheels for winter tires. I have a line on '07 TSX wheels (17 x 7 +55 offset). Since our wheels are 17 x 6.5 with a +55 Offset, these would seem to be a fit, yet the initial post says a 17 x 7 should be a +42 offset. Has anyone tried these wheels? I'm on a stock suspension. Tires would be stock size as well (215 50 17). Thanks.

I'm looking at picking up a set of Mazda MX5 wheels for my CL-S.

17x7 with +55 offset.

I know that the stock is 6.5 with +55, so will these wider wheels be in too close to the suspension/brakes? Has anyone used these wheels before?

As long as the bolt pattern is the same you will be just fine.

Helpful Tire Spec Links

When purchasing rims for a car, there are several specifications to ensure a good 'fit' (ie no need to do any fender mods).

1) rim size
2) rim width
3) offset
4) bolt pattern

Rims range from 16" to 19" for our cars. Any smaller and they won't clear the OEM calipers. Any larger and you will have issues with 'rubbing'. I'm sure someone will say, "I got [XX] size to fit", but seriously -- look at their setup and most will not find that look very appealing.

Rim width and offset go hand-in-hand. Depending on your rim width, you have to watch the offset. The wider the rim, the higher the offset (so it doesn't rub up against the wheel well or plastic tabs of the fender when you hit a bump).

Our TL/TLS come with 6.5" rims with +55 offset, made my Enkei. General rule (but not always the case since there is some variation among manufacturers):

7" rim = +42 offset
7.5" rim = +45 offset
8" rim = +48 offset

> 8.5" rim ... forget it unless you wanna do some custom bodywork for it to fit.

This is only a guideline, not an end-all, be-all. Those who have done suspension work may have to find a higher offset than that posted to make sure their application will not have any problems.

Lastly, bolt pattern -- our cars have 5x114.3JJ bolt pattern. Luckily, many rim manufacturers make this bolt pattern but offset will be your limiting factor.

Is this resource fairly accurate when it comes to stating whether or not the tires are wide/deviate by too much? I'm hoping it is so people might look at this before writing to ask will they fit?

2001 Acura 3.2TL tire sizes (model for North America )

I found this link when looking at rims/tires for my 01 TL. If it is...the rest of the 2g TL tire specs can be found here:

apologies if this is a dupe, I didn't see it when I perused the 28 pages of posts.

What would be the easiest way to setup/modify to fit XXR 521 18x8.5 + 25 and what tires?

^ Scratch that, think I'm going to go for XXR 530 (too poor to afford real wheels lol)

Would these fit, and which would provide a better fitment? What modifications would be necessary? Tire advice as well?

XXR Wheels: 530 18x8.5 Chromium Black Rims

XXR Wheels: 530 18x7.5 Chromium Black Rims

Sorry, just starting to learn about wheels, but I appreciate the help!

I had a used P235/45R18 tire mounted on a Drag DR31 18" X 8" 48 mm offset wheel. It clears all suspension and brake components, but will likely rub on the fender because it protrudes too far outboard.

I'm looking into getting some rims but like to go to 18" instead of the stock 17".
I had an integra previously and when i went with one size up (15" to 16") it threw off the speedometer. I want to stick with the 8" wide rims. So whats a good tire size that will be close to the OEM specs and wont rub nor throw off the speedometer?
Plus Im looking for a flush look without any stretching.

What do you think about this?

Rims: 17x9 +35
Tires: 215/50 or 225/50

Suspension is stock.

Thanks.

Oops sorry, the rl rims are 8 with 55 offset and tires are 245/50/17
tls is 6.5 with 55 offset and tires are 215/50/17. Would the rl'is rims and tires fit? I tried the tire rim calculator on here and it gave me this...
Inner Clearance:
19.05mm less
Outer Position:
extend by 19.05mm
Diameter difference:
1.18" (4.43%)

I just don't know exactly what that means? Is it okay meaning they'll fit or no?

I purchased a set of Volk Racing TE37's.
18x7.5 +48. Tires on them are 225/45/18 but 2 are toast.
Can anyone recommend a size that will work without any major mods?

Not lowered yet, planning on swapping springs when these get mounted.
Most likely going with H&R sport, but may consider Espelir ACTIVE SUPER DOWN springs.
Will I run into any problems with this setup?

I'm looking to upgrade from my OEM 17" wheels with 215/50/17 tires to the following:

18x8 Enkei RSF5
50mm offset

I was initially thinking about 225/45/18 tires, but then saw that 235/40/18 is actually a bit closer to the stock tire diameter.

The car is an '03 TL-S still riding on the stock suspension, but I have Koni Yellows waiting to go on. I will keep the stock springs and run them on the lower perch, which will give me about a 3/4" drop front and rear.

Any thoughts on whether the 235/40/18 will work without any additional work? Thanks!

Well went ahead & got H&R since no one had any input on the esperlir springs.
Here's a few with my spring rims, going to mount my TE37'S in a few days.

Hey, I really like the look of the stock 3Gs on the 2G. What thickness spaces did you need to use to clear the brakes?

I didn't have to use spacers for the look I have in the previous post.
Only have a mild drop tho.
Waiting to install my Teins before I post new pics.

Thanks! So the 3G stock 17x8s were basically "plug and play"? no issues or modification required?

I just got Tein Street Advance coilovers and would like to know if these would fit my 02 TLS? Tirerack lists them with a 50mm offset. Thanks!

I got 18x9, +30 offset. Lowered on BC Racing coilovers. Rear wheels rubs like crazy. Gonna go shop around for new wheels very soon. Looks good, just too aggressive for my taste since this is my daily driver.

Okay have some questions..

Alright yall. I've read through alot of these.. my set up is tein lowering Springs with about a 2 finger wheel gap. tire specs are 17x8.5 with a +35 offset with 215/40/17 tires streched on.. the rear tires are wearing perfect the front are wearing on the inner wall as if I have camber. I've had an aligment. fenders are rolled.. I don't feel any rubbing while driving nor do I hear it. I've checked my wheel wells and I don't see any signs of rubbing from the tire. The lip of my rim is exposed but is flawless.. as if no rubbing. I have been told that it could be my toe in.. my aligment wasn't the greatest. any ideas or could it be as simple as my rims and tire set up.. is there any way to fix this such as wheel spacers or something.. I don't mind the tire sticking out a bit. if so what spacer size.. any feedback would help. I don't really have the money to afford rims and tires all at once. Side note: my control arms are frame banging.. what can I do about that?

Spacers have nothing to do with your tire wear. That looks a lot like toe wear. Make sure that the place Zeros out your toe and prints out the paper for you to see the specs. I recommend flipping your tires from left to right and waiting until you need new tires and an alignment again.

o ahhh be more of a realist?

It helps to know exactly which year and model you are doing this to.
in the rear 225 fits, 235 requires cutting a bit off some plastic- fender-bumper attachment area
235 fit in front on my 01 lowered on TEIN SS

18x8 rims
