Bought Yokohama H4S
Hey guys,
I was @ Tire Rack and I inadvertantly purchased Yokohama H4S tires instead of the often talked about V4S tires. To top that off, I had them installed before I even had the chance to check my error! So now I have the H4s on my 1999 Acura 3.2TL. Any advice? Can I just let them be? or do i have to get them uninstalled and get a new set of tires?? Please help!

well unless you frequent speeds above 130 a lot there isn't a issue. That is the only difference is the speed rating of H and V

02 TLS SSM - Hi Oh Silvr!
What about braking?
I heard that the V compound rubber is slightly stickier than the H rated tires. This difference shows itself during braking with the V tires able to bite better under hard braking.
I remember having continental H rated tires on my GS1000 and having to upgrade to the V rated Metzlers because I was always skidding to a stop with the Contis.
Anyone have any similar experiences.
Did you contact Tire Rack about the mixup? I am curious as to what they would say.

I called them up and they said that I definately need to change the tires b/c my car isn't "rated" for the tires. I knew that, but that doesn't mean I should change them. I also figure that since I almost never hit 100, i shouldn't have a problem with the tires, i guess I will just have to wait and find out.

well unless they will replace them for free there is no need. H is fine.

I bought the 205/60/16. I believe that is the default size for the 99 tl.

Yeah, most of the Avid sizes only come in either H or V, but the 206/60/16 is one that comes in both. But as fsttyms1 said, it shouldn't matter. You're still getting a better tire than stock.
