Best Tires for 03 TL-S
Looks like Im gonna have to buy a whole new set of tires for my 03 TL-S, (stock rims) as the Toyo Proxies TPT that I had on my car keep causing me problems. What would be the best tire you can get and approx. price/per tire for them?
So far I have heard Michelin.

Summer tires : BridgeStone RE-01R, a little heavy, but sticks to the road like glue. It's virtually an approved-for-street-use race track tire.
Price : Goto Tirerack to check out the current price.

F1 GS-D3 Hands down no question for a summer only tire that will last more than a few k miles. No other tire will touch it in rain either.

According to tirerack, the OE size for the '03 TL-S is 215/50 R 17. You'll have an impossible time finding the RE-01R or the Goodyear F1-GSD3s in that size, because they don't make them. Also, the OE wheel is too narrow to properly fit a 235/45 R 17 tire. In other words, unless you're willing to buy new wheels, you're pretty much stuck with 215/50 R17, and therefore limited in what you can buy.
There's a big difference in performance between the best summer tire and best all-season tire. I'm not sure where you live, so I'll just give you my suggestions for both.
Summer
Best Tire 215/50R17: Continental Sport Contact 3 ($178 @ tirerack.com)
Budget alternative: Sumitomo HTR ZIII ($85 @ tirerack.com - amazing deal)
All-Season:
Best: Really, everyone here and at tirerack swears by the RE960. At $171 a pop, they are expensive.
Best Budget (Moderate Snowfall): Continental Extreme Contact: $108
Best Budget (Very light snowfall): Yokohama AVID W4S: $118
Best Economy-prices cheap Budget: Sumitomo HTR+: $79

The OEM 6.5" 2G TL-S wheels is also recommended by tire manufacturers to safely take 225/50/17 tires. Although RE-01R doesn't have this size, F1GS-D3 does.

I have to agree with Edward that the 225/50R 17 is less than a half-inch difference in overall diameter from stock size, and shouldn't have much of an effect on anything. It does broaden the selection of available tires considerably, including the reasonably priced ($167) F1GS-D3.
